As usual, the keynote is underwhelming.

I don't think its ridiculous.  A gold rolex cost $20k

I guess they just want to target those in hi-end fashion, Edition is not for everyone. I wouldn't buy one even if I have so much money. Why? 1 day battery life.

The point is Gold Rolex will worth more over time, not Apple Edition watch...I would bet that the Edition will worth half of the price after 2 years.

Ben Thompson on Twitter said Apple killed it. I was less impressed with the watch demo because I didn't think there was enough new info from the Sept event. But pricing the stanless steel watch at $549 is HUGE. I was very worried it would be close to $800 (what Gruber was predicting). At $549 starting I think Apple can move a lot of these.

One thing I found interesting is no Dan Riccio in any of the videos. MacBook and Watch videos were all Jony Ive. Not sure if we read something into that or if Apple just decided Jony's the guy for videos now.

Really? I was expecting $500. All prices were a little higher than I thought (except Edition, which is a lot higher).

I was going off of Gruber's estimates which were $749 for stainless steel. He also predicted just a link bracelet alone would be $999 yet the highest price for the 38mm SS watch is $1099.

That new Macbook. In gold. Waaaaaaaannnnttttt. I don't even need one but waaaaannnttttt.

Want a Watch too, but srsly, I was all over the rose gold one, but 10K? No thanks. I have other things I'd rather do with that money. Even other watches, at that price point.

You won't see the Edition watches in many places. Apple certainly isn't expecting to sell many of them. I know the price makes people's eyes bug out but clearly Apple has no intention of moving many of these. It's just a showpiece for select stores.

As weird as it sounds I'm actually glad it's really expensive because then we know Apple has no intention of trying to sell many of these. It's all about the brand. I saw a tweet from someone in my Twitter feed that said all their tech friends were bored but they were getting emails and text messages from their non tech friends all excited. Apple doesn't care if it impresses Nilay Patel at the Verge. They want the average Joe out there lusting after one of the new MacBooks.

Nah, $400 jump from the sport was way too much. I think the pricing on the SS version is about right. The one I want (link bracelet) is a little out of my price range, but not enough for me to consider buying the sport.

Looking forward to the event although I will probably skip it and wait till the 2nd gen. In the pictures it looks kinda thick, I'll have to see it in person.

Streaming is expensive. You can still get them.

Lots of prerecorded videos in the presentation; Jony Ive must have been stuck in a recording booth for most of February.
