An Apple Mag Safe connector already has 5 pins in just 7mm length.

    1) So you don't want it to be reversible?

    2) Just 7mm? JUST!!! What is the diameter of the 3.5mm jack? What is the width of USB-C and Lightning?

USB for headphones is pretty silly. It means all headphones have to have their own DAC and audio circuitry, not to mention the connector being far bulkier than a 3.5mm one, and the total lack of backward compatibility with nearly everything, and certainly every piece of high quality audio gear ever made.

    No.

    No.

Reversible and analogue could work with 7 contacts.  The Mag-Safe connector is reversible - that's why there are 5 contacts not 3.  I don't see why it has to be reversible.  depending on the configuration, a magnetic coupling could be self aligning with N/S magnetic poles so it would effectively connect itself in the right alignment with no conscious effort on the part of the user.

Yes - just 7mm - a 3.5mm jack is 15mm long!, so why are you making out that 7mm is some huge dimension?  I think you are seriously missing the main point which is to get away from inserted plugs entirely!

5 contacts in 7mm on the MagSafe was just an example, it's likely not the minimum possible dimension that could be realised for an audio connector.  I specifically mentioned a surface connector topology so obviously was not positing a magnetic variation on an inserted plug like an existing 3.5mm plug so the diameter of the existing jack is irrelevant..  A MagAudio connector would not involve a hole in a device so could easily be made waterproof and so dramatically reduce the impediments to making mobile devices moisture resistant.

No what?  USB and lightning ports are digital.  Running analogue transducers off them is a stupid kludge.
