    The biggest roadblock is not cost or lack of technology though, it's probably public perception. It's hard to get people use to the idea of drinking "sewer water".

    If people didn't know where it came from, it would be ok. That generator also puts out electricity but there's burning going on too. There was a waterless toilet someone developed that uses a pull-through bag system, which avoids water use entirely but would still allow removing everything from the toilet. Toilet water usage seems quite high, I wouldn't expect it to be more than a shower but it'll depend on frequency of usage:

    If a bag system on a crank handle could drain all fluids into a filtering system and then hermetically seal the remainder so no odours escaped to be used for burning or just throwing out, that would save water. Throwing them out in the trash might seem odd but people do it for babies all the time. There can be a special bucket for this kind of waste that is used for burning at a power plant.
