In terms of 3d applications and games, most render at a set resolution of 1080p or less. So the processor shouldn't be having an issue.

I'd buy and ultra hd variant of a 6 plus in a heartbeat, even if that meant performance dropped a bit.

So, you can't resolve the pixels on the iPhone 6 Plus or the S6, but want more of them, because you like the look of AMOLED's, i.e., the deep blacks, yet you accept performance penalties to achieve that.

We don't know how the S6 will hold up in battery life; probably pretty good. But Apple will be at the same 14 nm node with the A9, and you still won't be able to resolve the iPhone 6 Plus screen, so, what exactly is the benefit of increasing the pixels with what will probably be exactly the same screen technology?

Aren't you really just asking Apple to integrate AMOLED screen technology into the next iPhone, even with the known drawbacks, not to mention that Apple needs more screens than current AMOLED production would allow?

As I said earlier, one reason Samsung may have used such a high resolution on the S6 is for when it used with the Gear VR headset where each eye sees half the screen.

Apple wouldn't need such a high resolution AMOLED.

Seems an expensive means to support VR, whereas a VR specific version, S6 vr, as an example would be optimized for it, but that makes as much sense as anything other than just pure marketing.

Thinking the other way around, it is the most economical way to provide a quality mobile vr to S6 owners. We can have several S6 or iPhone variants optimized for game, camera, audio, movie play, web browsing or health care but both Samsung and Apple deliver them as a package. You can deny that. We are talking about a mobile phone which basically need to show dial numbers. High resolution has its own merits such as sharp screen/text/picture/movie and apps requiring a high frame rate only need to draw on a low res target and blow it up as many commercial games do.

Lol @ Apple insider, is this what passes as good journalism in Apple land, Lies mis-directs and information cherry picking.

Fact:- most 3D games on Android don't have to run @ native 1440p resolution for example Rip tide lets you change resolutions on the fly.

In the real world fast paced 3D Android games (Driving games etc) can be run at 720P or 1080P it's your choice (I'm aware having a choice on your mobile devices is an alien concept to you people), in these REAL WORLD situations the new galaxy has both iPhone's beat hands down (Don't tell me I'm wrong unless you can prove it)

Swicthing back to low demand situations like browsing the net and thumbing through the OS everything looks gorgeous in 1440p with more than enough horsepower to run silky smooth, who cares that I can't see all the dots, I'm going to enjoy the best of both worlds.

So please show me a benchmark that has any iPhone beating the Galaxy S6 in a true like for like (1080p Vs 1080p etc) or a true REAL WORLD comparison .

All I see is a phone that is simultaneously faster with a better battery life and more features.

Oh and after the drop test video by EVERYTHINGAPPLEPRO apparently much more durable too.

Seems like the iPhone 6 only has gaming going for it.

Soooo...if i buy an iPhone, I get slightly better framerates in a select amount of games, at the cost of lower resolutions, slower UI, longer load times, zero multitasking capabilities, and zero customizability?

Yes, totally a great consumer decision :/

It's all fascinating and creative. I've been using Samsung S6 edge for more than a year now without facing any of these issues which mention here. Smooth Gaming, Excellent execution and termination of apps and a gorgeous screen that apple do not have. got one question though, How much apple pays you to do articles like this.

Apple could own this site through one of it's many shell companies and none of us would know it.  Have you had any problems with screen burn-in?  Some people seem to think it's a huge problem.
