no longer need the watch while I am on the equipment. Can not tell you how many time I left my phone on the treadmill or it fell out of my pocket while on weight equipment.
I feel your pain. I have even left the gym and had to drive all the way back to get my black faced phone which blended into the treadmill displays!
But do you not ever browse the internet or send texts while on the equipment, especially the treadmill? The nature of my job requires me to be somewhat on-call, so I find I need to check my e-mail a couple of times during the workout. And it makes the time go by between sets faster. But I would go nuts if I didn't have the internet when doing cardio. Unfortunately, the locker room in my gym is too far away from any of the equipment to leave my phone there and still have a useful tether. Maybe gyms could install tiny phone lockers in the center of the gym so people could lock up their phone and still have reasonable tether to the watch? That still doesn't solve my cardio problem, but then again, I have specific cardio days when I would keep the phone with me.
Tried out the watch today at the Apple Store. This is a bigger deal than I thought. It's still too expensive (I'll bite at $250) but the responsiveness, the functions you no longer need to handle your phone for, the expert-in-seconds interface... this is more than my jaded view that any tech company's watch is just another way to tethered to their ecosystem. Every time you don't yank your phone out of your pocket is one less time it can fall to the ground. I'm sold. I'm cheap, but I'm sold. Plus my (free - stop laughing) 4s is under contract til May.

For those who are into health and fitness, the iPhone 5C and the Apple Watch Sport would make an incredible bundle for $350 or $400.
Just buy the Apple Watch Sport for $349 (38mm) / $399 (42mm); and get the iPhone 5C for free on a reconfigured contract as a second phone.
Siri and the Digital Crown are the main user interface for the ? watch.
The videos confirm this:
1. From the phone call video: "You can press the contact button, BUT an easier way is to ... "
2. From the music video: "You can use the homescreen, BUT an easier way is to ... "
It is as Apple already know themselves what offers the best user experience. The dedicated contact button and (bubbly) homescreen are cluttering the user experience. They shouldn't be on the watch.
disagree. i for one will not be talking to my wrist in public. the contacts button seems convenient.
