Now virtually no one in the industry will invest an Apple "Pro-App", as all the trust is gone, gone, gone. (see Shake, Aperture, etc...)
The main company at the forefront of building data only feature film and broadcast television workflows endorses FCPX as the future of digital editing.
Yes most of the local network affiliates are using FCP or Premiere. What I'm talking about are the national broadcast divisions and production arms that produce national network television. This is a market where Avid is and has always been well entrenched. That is because the feature film and broadcast television workflow have been built around Avid and they aren't motivated to change.
The areas where FCP and now Premiere have been well adopted are in areas that cannot afford or do not need a full decked out Avid suite.
Again, sorry, but incredibly incorrect. I cut spots for ABC worldwide broadcast. Prime time. For the network. Not local affiliate. I've cut the trailers and TV spot campaigns for Lost, Desperate Housewives, Scandal, you name it. And I will tell you, FCP7 had taken over the trailer and TV spot business, both feature film and broadcast television, full stop. Didn't matter that the shows were all cut on AVID, they'd just send us an EDL, while we all laughed at how backwards they were. Until FCPX. Then the joke was on us.

You seem to disagree with me and confirm my point at the same time.
While your department cuts on FCP7 or Premiere. What is Lost, Desperate Housewives, and Scandal cut on?
What is Fast and Furious, Avengers, or most other big budget movies cut on?
My point being is that Avid has long dominated this space and FCP 7 never made major inroads.

This is what I was refuting. Could not be further from the truth. FCP7 had a HUGE footprint in high-end Hollywood, especially in commercials (which, sadly, are the majority of what Hollywood makes). I'd estimate it was the NLE in 65% of the bays around town, and most of them could afford any NLE they wanted 50x over.
FCPX, however, is all but nonexistent. Certainly less than .5 percent marketshare. Apple had the ball, was about to cross the goal line, then sat down at the 1 yard line and ate the football.
Ubillos retiring to enjoy life is not an indicator of anything.
Believing ain%u2019t everything: I would ask where the statistics come from to say that FInal Cut is winning the professional television market. People might be right. Saying so, is one thing, but statistics are needed to support that supposition.
We could equally conclude that %u201CiLink%u201D & firewire was likewise eternal, simply because so many devices at one time supported it.

Software & Interface are Important Fashion isn%u2019t going to keep me on the platform. The machines themselves may not do it. If Windows 10, as one example, has enough interface features that were pioneered & tuned elsewhere%u2013that is less of a criteria.
Despite some folk getting upset about their own use of Final Cut Pro X vs Final Cut Pro 7, there is no denying what an immense impact Randy has had on professional nonlinear editing. From his time At SuperMac creating ReelTime, then Adobe Premiere Versions 1-3, then Macromedia with KeyGrip and Final Cut and finally all of the Final Cut Pro releases at Apple post -1999, Ubillos' work has empowered millions of editors and broadly helped democratised a once closed club.. There's a good history of all of this at the Timeline Analog books on Amazon or iTunes
