    How does iCloud...

    ...charge my cell phone

    ...connect to my external drive

...get me onto my company ethernet

    ...connect to my dual monitors

...download photos from my camera's SD card

    ...connect to my DVD drive

    ...connect to my TV

There's a market for the Macbook, but it's pretty niched, and won't work for the majority of users.

There's a market for the Macbook, but it's pretty niched, and won't work for the majority of users.

There are two ways to answer your question:

    1. The item by item approach:
...charge my cell phone - computers weren't designed to be phone chargers, imho. I find I get a faster charge when I plug my phone into the wall directly
...connect to my external drive - If used properly, cloud drives like iCloud and Dropbox obviate the need for an external drive.
...get me onto my company ethernet - as a consultant that has worked for about a dozen different companies in the past 5 years, I have yet to work for one that both allows personal machines AND doesn't have great WIFI. Not sure what the situation is where you work, but it sounds like an exception rather than the rule.
...connect to my dual monitors - There's a dongle for that, which you can easily leave attached to the monitor cables... and what's the point of having an ultraportable laptop if you have a workstation with dual monitors anyway?
...download photos from my camera's SD card - Same way you would with any computer that doesn't have an SD slot... you know not all of them do, right? Or are you saying all computers without the ability to read a specific type of flash memory card (vs. Memory Stick, CF, etc.) are garbage?
...connect to my DVD drive - or your VHS player, amirite?
...connect to my TV - AppleTV. They're $69, cheaper than the dongle to connect your monitors and oh so much fun.

    2. The common sense approach: You don't want a MacBook. It doesn't meet your needs. Don't buy one.

Joining our exclusive $144 discounts on 12" MacBooks with AppleCare is a new offer that throws in a free Apple USB-C to USB Adapter, LG Super Drive

An LG Super Drive? Every time that you refer to a Super Drive that is not an Apple product, you remind me of the people who say "iTouch" or "iWatch."

SuperDrive is a trademark used by Apple Inc. for two different storage drives: from 1988–99 to refer to a high-density floppy disk drive capable of reading all major 3.5? disk formats; and from 2001 onwards to refer to a CD/DVD reader/writer.
