Well, hopefully it works out. He hasn't exactly been drowning in success since he left Apple.

Right and those coattails are getting a little worn ...

Even some of the specialty stores like Gap, JCrew and Banana Republic are pretty crappy and in some cases overpriced.

completely -- BR always has "buy X get Y free" type deals, because the very nature of their product is overpriced. the only time you buy anything there is during a promo of some sort, which is year-round.

I find his career path so bizarre...how did he survive at Apple for 12 years and why did he not seem to pick up any Apple identity during his tenure?

Why would he now sell second-rate electronics that need set up assistance?

This is going to be another fail.

Stores use that kind of gimmick to rid themselves of extra inventory. If something didn't sell well, they have to mitigate any losses prior to selling any remaining stock off in bulk.

not so -- i routinely buy my jeans and tees from BR during one of their year-round promos for particular SKUs, or general discounts which arent attached to any particular SKU. different week, different sale. the sticker price for asian-produced clothing is just there to make you feel like youre getting a deal. it's no different than JC Penny.

It is a typical method, and quite a bit of clothing is produced in Asian countries (and terribly manufactured), even at much higher price ranges. They do sell quite a bit of it at the posted price. I usually order jeans from things like bluefly. Men's jeans aren't that difficult to purchase, and I know what brands typically fit well.
