If Apple doesn't clean up it's act, I'll be on my last apple devices period. Microsoft is looking better each day.
Device vulnerabilities for over a month un-fixed, political activities instead of securing devices, and rainbows painted all over every digital front and in front of the children, with no parental controls to keep kids from seeing the filth of Apple's new czar
I guess you should avoid Microsoft as CEO of Microsoft is praising the gay marriage ruling.
Regardless, the 8GB garbage needs to stop. That leaves a pathetically small amount of space for content.
Yes that is embarrassing. I wonder how many long hours Apple engineers had to put in getting the file size down to support 8GB and 16GB devices. In the WWDC keynote Craig Federighi specifically mentioned that iOS 8 adoption was slower because many people didn't have enough space on their devices to do an OTA update.
Some people don't drag around every email, text message, photograph and song they own... They just don't. For me, 8 Gb isn't enough, but that's just me.
As for people not having enough free space on their iDevices to do an OTA upgrade, that's been solved. As for shrinking the iOS to work on an 8Gb iPhone, have you forgotten that it initially ran on iPhones with HALF that memory?

I haven't forgotten, but an 8GB iPhone probably leaves you with like 3.9GB free these days.
iOS also used to be only a few hundred megabytes. Now it's several gigabytes.
So they should be losing billions now that the second tier is 64GB instead of 32GB. It used to be a $200 upgrade to go from 16GB to 64GB, but now it's only $100. Phil Schiller said that the 16GB is the most popular, but this article points to the contrary. Did he lie? Are we to believe the survey, or Phil?
I've got to believe Phil. Hence offering 64GB for the price of 32GB. Trying to get the 16GB to become less popular. And Apple can easily afford to do it as the margins I'm sure are insane at 64GB and 128GB models.

That's your loss. Who the hell uses Windows Phone smartphones? Bill Gates and his family and all Microsoft employees. Oh, and maybe some Russians and Serbians. There's either Android or iOS and the rest isn't even worth talking about and certainly not worth owning. All you're doing is hurting yourself by giving up Apple for some inferior MS products. I hear the Surface Pro is taking the world by storm, but I'd like to see some actual figures. I'm not saying it's not a good product but I can't see it being better than a MacBook Pro because a MacBook Pro can run both OSX and Windows 10. I'm not sure what act Apple has to clean up, but there's no point in threatening Apple, because for every one of you leaving for Microsoft, at least two consumers will be hooking up to Apple's gear.

Do it.
Your rage quit of the Apple platform (and these forums) for completely spurious reasons is welcome and appreciated, thanks.
Hence why 32GB was replaced by 64GB but 16GB still remains. Gotta keep those ASPs high and there's more margin to play around with at the higher end. I've said I think that will change this year but the more I think about it the less sure I am. If Apple successfully upsold lots of people to 64GB (who would probably be just fine with 32GB were it an option) no way would they give them a reason to downgrade. Unfortunately I think 16GB is here to stay.
Completely agree. Like myself, I'm okay with 32GB and have to go for 64GB. I would drop back to 32GB since I only used 50% of my 64GB at this point including these useless apps: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. BTW, why the F Google Chrome app take so much space 499MB?
That's one reason why they are dominating. Imagine if people had to pay every year for iOS? You think adoption rates would 80-90%? Hell no. That leads to Android-like fragmentation.
Bullshit. Hundreds of millions to total and utter bullshit. There has been ZERO proof that Apple paid that much or even close to it. The only source is sketcy NewYork Times that said it could be up to $100 million. And with over 500,000,000 users that's only 20 cents per iOS user. Not a very big amount at all. And I doubt it was even close to $100 million. So it was probably a cent or two per users.
another Bullshit. Apple is INVESTING in solar/global warming initatives. They will get their money back with cheap energy costs and good PR. Stop spreading BULLSHIT.
GTFO. If you were running Apple you would probably give everything away for free. You should just join Google since you are so into not making profits. What you dont realize is profits are NECESSARY for Apple to fund new R&D, software, iOS, product development, ect. Without those profits it would be impossible for Apple to come up with new and innovative products. That's what Google/Samdung does. They wait till Apple releases a product and then copies it. That way they don't need to spend money.
You can't have it both ways. If you want Apple to be innovative and at the top of the game they need PROFITS to fund their R&D and keep their best talent.
Utter BULLSHIT. Its not penny pinching.
If Apple made the low tier 32GB they would lose literally BILLIONS of DOLLARS in profits.
Apple sells close to 300,000,000 million iOS devices a year. About 65% of those are high memory devices. If Apple starting the bottom tier at 32GB they would lose about 50,000,000 consumers who would opt out of the 64GB and go with the 32GB. That would be $5 billion in revenue lost and over $4 billion in profits.
Stop with the BULLSHIT. The iPhone was $650 in 2007. It is still $650 in 2015. That is EIGHT YEARS of inflation and yet it is the same price. Can you say the same thing about cars? In Eight years cars have gone up over 20% in price. The average car in 2007 was $27k, now its $34k. Apple needs to make up that difference somehow with rising labor costs, medical costs, ect.
Let me sum all up for you:
Bullshit, total and utter bullshit, another bullshit, Stop spreading BULLSHIT, GTFO, Utter BULLSHIT, Stop with the BULLSHIT...
You know why car prices have gone up? Blame the US Government. CAFE and all the other tech they're mandating are the reason for the huge cost increases. Since then they've added mandatory stability control, TPMS, backup cameras (and those had to be added because of pedestrian standards mandating the beltline of cars move up, making it so people can't even see out of the back of their cars now), etc.
Yep. Inflation has given me itchy asz for a long time especially for eating out. The fcking lunch used to be in $5 range, now is close to $10. Last week, I got a damn fast food lunch at Wendy's, and the cost was like $9. It's damn tough living in Silicon Valley where husband and wife can barely make a living with salary over $200K.
I do not know a single person who owns a 16GB iPhone 6. I know dozens of people with the iPhone 6 and it is typically the 64GB that they have with a few, like me, with 128GB. Going from 32GB to 64GB and leaving 16GB was a brilliant business move. It will remain the same for the 6S/6S Plus.

exactly. Brilliant business move. And brilliant for customers because we get 64GB for the 32GB price of last year.
Paying an extra $100 for a $650 device is no big deal. It is literally costing these people about 10 cents a day to buy the 64GB phone. At that point these people should buy a $200 Android phone instead if they are so hard up for cash.

So offering 32 for the price of 16 would cost Apple billions but offering 64 for the price of 32 doesn't? Aren't you essentially saying then that Apple's phones at the higher end are overpriced?
I never believe Apple will drop 16GB. Present of 16GB makes 64GB a better deal. Dropping 16GB for 32GB encourages 64GB owners to go back to 32GB. That's a bad business move.
Never? So a few years from now, when competing phones all have 16GB of RAM, Apple's low end will still have only 16GB of Flash??
Yeah, I'm considering finally selling all my AAPL too. No matter what steps forward Apple takes, there seems to be an endless barrage of attacks, bad news, lies and political pressures that drag the stock back down. I figure if it hits $140 I'll go ahead and retire. It makes less sense for me to work than ever before and I can't abide supporting with my tax dollars a public or government I consider increasingly Marxist and socialistic. If I'm lucky I'll live another 25-30 years and I'll see the arrival of true artificial intelligence near the end.
And if you are unlucky, like the Greeks, your retirement investments will be used by Chinese Megabanks to repay the U.S. debt. The beauty of capitalist and liberal systems is that when it rolls for you, you can claim it was all your good planning. The problem is that nobody can plan 20 years ahead, as every Greek taxpayer who paid retirement taxes (that are now being used to pay Greek debt back) can tell you.
If you can't tell, I believe in a socialist system that doesn't get leeched upon by savvy liberal-capitalist bankers, analysts... It's a continental thing, most likely. I respect your different opinion, but I do hope you realize how much of our situations relies on luck

I doubt 16GB is there to stay long, now. Just photos and mails are such space hogs that it makes sense for most people to have at least 32GB, and preferably double that.
I'd guess iPhone 8, though Apple has done nice trimming to app size and OS size lately, which saves space, so it might be another year later.
Anyway, unless you're a fly sitting on Johnny Ives's ceiling, it's guesswork, fortune-telling and "Apple-analysis"
