Apple's new Hong Kong store to open on July 30
Apple will open its fourth Apple Store location in Hong Kong on Thursday, July 30, the company announced through its retail website, with the three-story Canton Road outlet expected to be one of the largest in Asia.
Apple added an entry for the Canton Road Apple Store to its regional Hong Kong webpage on Wednesday, complete with a picture of the site showing a large decorated construction barricade.
The new location's temporary facade, which for some Far East store openings incorporates a statement art piece, was unveiled last week bearing a three-dimensional Apple logo sitting high above an embossed wave pattern.
As AppleInsider reported, Apple has long been rumored to open a store in Hong Kong's bustling Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood, known to be a tourist shopping mecca. Surprisingly, instead of positioning its new Apple Store in a heavily trafficked area, Apple chose to open its doors in a less conspicuous location across from the Harbour City mall.
The TST location joins Apple's other Hong Kong outlets in IFC Mall, Causeway Bay and Festival Walk, and is part of a broader push into the East Asian market. Consumers from the Chinese mainland often visit Hong Kong to buy high-priced items at rates lower than what they would find back home.
Apple's Canton Road location is set to open on Thursday, July 30 at 9 a.m. The store will feature a Genius Bar and is already taking reservations for Apple Camp workshops.
