    Surely the NFC hardware can be added on to the POST. I don't know which POSTs Wal-Mart upgraded to, but many I've seen from major manufacturers offer optional NFC hardware that can be added onto the terminal at a later date.

    It's hard to imagine Wal-Mart being that myopic considering the massive investment in equipment necessary to cover their entire network of stores. Since the option is available from many manufacturers, it's hard to believe they would go out of their way to ensure they would have to replace every single POST in the event CurrentC fails, however unlikely they might think that would be.
