Apple on Tuesday released updates of Logic Pro X and MainStage 3, both of which include support for Alchemy, a synthesizer plugin acquired through the company's takeover of Camel Audio in February.

The plugin includes a variety of sound generators, modulation sources, and effects filters, as well as tools like arpeggiators and oscillators. The software has over 3,000 presets covering many different genres of music, and new tabbed Transform Pad and X/Y Pad controls.

The Logic Pro X update, 10.2, also includes new Force Touch controls for compatible MacBooks -- and for registered artists, the option to upload tracks directly to Apple Music Connect. Elsewhere users can create custom track icons, and use a wider number of MIDI clock options to improve sync with external controllers.

Both updates make unspecified stability fixes, and add 1,000 new Apple Loops in genres such as electronic dance, funk, hip-hop, and indie rock.

Logic Pro X is Apple's flagship digital audio workstation software, and costs $200. Users must have OS X 10.9 or later.

MainStage 3 is a companion tool for live performances, geared toward simplifying software and instrument control. The app costs $30 and requires OS X 10.9.5.

For existing owners, both updates are free downloads through the Mac App Store's Updates tab.

And here's the company Apple needs to buy next to help make the tools that artists and musicians want:  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1152958674/the-sensel-morph-interaction-evolved

Buy them now Tim and you won't have to even pay $1 billion dollars for them!

Wow. That Sensel looks awesome. Only potential caveat right now: 8 ms latency at full resolution, down to 2 ms at lowered resolution, whatever "lowered" means.

    8ms is too high, yet.

    Sweet device, though.
