No bumps, no changes. A small price cut (maybe $100 back to previous pricing?). A minor bump about 2 months after MWNY. They'll want to flush out the inventory channels (and they won't have to change pricing to them since they've already given them the $100 back).
Stuff is still selling fairly well, but it's summer and everyone has gone outside to play. Now would be a good time to release that Camera so that people can use it for all their summer-time fun photography (and underwater, too)...
They definitely need to do a price cut (or rebate) before upgrading the iMac line. Apparently they are piling up in warehouses. No one would buy them if new ones came out.
Yes, I think Apple is unlikely to rev the IMac at MWNY, they're sitting on 13 weeks of inventory right now. They'll want to clear that out. If the 17"/19" iMac rumor is true I would expect to see it about September/October (in time for Christmas).
Just as MWSF 02 was a consumer show, MWNY 02 will be a pro show with Jag-wire. The iMac bump will happen later - in a press release. And, I doubt there will be a bus speed increase - that's an entire rebuild of the motherboard, no? Same goes for the video card - the GeForce2 is still good.

Some of this I agree with. Other parts, not so much. Yes MWNY will be a Pro Show--this is what I've been saying all along. Powermac will be the star. Maybe a digital camera to go along.
But I think iMac will be updated at the show. Press release not quite enough...Apple will want to reinvigorate the consumer's buying interest, and the average consumer isn't watching press releases like we do. MWNY has a lot of flair associated with it, and usually results in news stories all over, interviews, etc, all perfect to mention the *revolutionary* new Powermac, and mention that the iMac too was updated.
As more time goes on I feel more towards thinking that 1 Ghz is possible (and no its not mental...its based on a few other things) in the iMac, but I would pray that if it did, Apple would at least open 133 system bus up. I don't know for sure if a bus speed change requires a mobo redesign....if it does then I wouldn't count on it, not yet anyway. But I'd say expect the iMac to be updated, but not a ton.

Well I can't vouch for it...someone else mentioned that the inventory build-up is a result of a 100 dollar incentive Apple is giving resellers right now on iMacs. Thus, the resellers are buying them up. So this is why J and R and Ingram might have so many piled up.
In this sense, Apple IS clearing inventory--their own. We don't know how many Apple has themselves. We've only heard how many the distributors have. If Apple doesn't have any in its channels, its a good sign. Waiting until October would be the longest Apple ever waited to update the iMac, and Sept would be close. Can't happen. Update will come at MWNY or shortly thereafter, but my money is on the former.
<strong> stick a 1400x1080 15" display on that arm.</strong><hr></blockquote>
I think Jason is on to something. The iMac design can easily be modified to handle a larger display maybe a 17" wide screen. A bigger display on the iMac would certainly be easier and cheaper to produce then a larger display on an iBook which apple did not too long after the original iBook redesign.
What about superdrives across the whole line or at the least an option on an eMac or the powerbook.
OK, a couple of (weak-ish) pieces of evidence wrt updates on the iMac.
1. The Apple iMac Update that they mail out. They were touting the GeForceMX2, and how powerful blah blah blah. Importantly (?), they specifically state that the MX2 is ready for the "future", since it allows you to take full advantage of Jaguar, available "later this summer". One *could* infer that this means no video card upgrade at MWNY. (hey, I said it was weak).
2. Macworld UK states that "Apple is upgrading the iMac and considering price cuts in a bid to bolster flagging sales of its LCD desktop G4, industry sources claim. " (http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/main_news.cfm?NewsID=4873)

I disagree. The GeForce2MX is not a good card anymore, in fact, it was not good even when it was introduced a LONG time ago. There's no good excuses for leaving the video-card as it is, GeForce 4MX or RADEON7500 is minimum if you ask me...they ought to add better vidcards to their consumer products, since it is not upgradeable and competing PC machines actually feature quite good stuff...

Bigger bus? - probably not
Superdrive as standard? - Definately not
Seperate display? - the return of the CUBE <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[Surprised]" />

This sounds spot-on to me.
MWNY 02:
- Mac OS X 10.2 preview -- a lot more of it.
- updated PowerMacs with an updated architecture
- announcement (or hints, at least) of general direction of future chip architecture
- return to original price for FP iMac
- a new Digital Lifestyle product

Agreed.
Mx2 is stingy on a machine costing £1,600.
Lemon Bon Bon <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
1) iMacs sales are in the crapper
2) Apple would rather be Steve Ballmer's prank-monkey than lower prices on the iMac
3) There hasn't een a whole lot of time for Apple to come up with something radical to try to spur sales.
So what's left? A little flash and sizzle. So, I'm predicting:
Black iMac (or iBlack, as the kidz on the boards will call it)
TiMac - encased i Titanium, instead of plastic
Sunflower - Bright yellow and orange.
You think I'm crazy, but you knowI'm right!
