Hmm, maybe not. I had some measure of success though. Once Steve Jobs came back to Apple I started buying stock with my extra income. Steve's successes got me up to $1.34 million today. THANKS STEVE!!! Still hanging on to the stock...just keep watching it under Tim Cook. Yes, I have a soft spot for old Steve...
Congratulations on your AAPL investment. You did what the rest of us wish we had done. Of course you already know that the adjusted for splits share price for your AAPL stock was $50.52 on 10/052011 (the day Steve passed away). Yesterday's close was $114.71. I would say you have benefited well from Mr. Cook's leadership of Apple. You also received $5.82 per share in dividends during that time as well.
There are many of you that need to realize that STEVE IS DEAD. On October 5th it will have been 4 years. GET OVER IT. The systems and software that Apple is creating are more complex than four years ago. The competition in the high end smartphone space is much greater now. The iPhone 6s/6s+ and iOS 9 is by far the most intelligent system with features that weren't even possible in Steve's time. The Apple Watch is a multifunctional wearable that continues to add health features that will help not only the active user but those that need to monitor due to existing health issues. Are there bugs in the Apple software? Yes. Will they be corrected? Yes. Were there bugs back in Steves time? Definitely yes. Our memories tend to remember only the good parts and leave out the bad. Like the passing of a crazy old uncle who was a mean drunk but you only remember when he took you and your cousins to the zoo and bought you things your parents wouldn't.
Tim is spending too much time rubbing elbows with politicians, fashion moguls, celebrities, and trying to be an activist for every wrong in the world. In the meantime I am getting buggy software on all of my devices and laptops that seems to be launched before they are prime-time. If Steve was here he would fire some people, throw some chairs and turn a few tables over...and get it right. Yes, I'm an old codger who is stuck in the past, though I do have an iPhone 6+, an Apple Watch plus the iPad Air 2a...in addition to my MBPros. I just want the damn things to work without having to do all the work-arounds. Enjoy your dinner Tim with all of the phony elitists!
Tim was likely there because China's hacking of the world's computers was a big part of the discussions.
The very recent China hack of Apple's App development was a prime example.
We are after China for being one of the biggest computer spying countries in the world.
So it's all about improving your computer use !
What's your Apple SW problem; my iOS8 iPhone and MacOS X Mav 10.9 are running perfectly.
Eh JoshA, news for you. Two highly paid executives of a company stuffing their bellies full at the expense of US taxpayers is not going to improve anybody's computer use.
I have not seen any actual EVIDENCE that China was behind the app development hack. I HAVE seen evidence that the exact same procedure was developed by the NSA. While you may be right that one of the worst state-supported or state-operated hacking/spying operations is thought to be China, THE worst is known to be the UK (GCHQ), closely followed by the NSA.
Yes the UK and USA also hack, but they are friends.
It's been well proven that China Gov is behind many hacks out of China.
"A photo snapped by the Associated Press shows Cook and Jackson heading into the event, where they reportedly sat with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, President Xi Jinping, Madame Peng, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff"
Notice that there were others in the tech sector that have interests and concerns about China and what's going on with security as well as it being the single largest market for selling tech to. With the others that were represented the absence of Cook would be of concern. I'm not sure why Google wasn't at the table. There are a lot of protocols for these affairs. It's possible that they declined the invitation.
Some of you need to understand that the CEO of a corporation the size of Apple is going to spend time with anyone who will help increase their business. It's not just because he's out for a fun night and a free dinner. Fixing software bugs is up to the engineers. He doesn't need to stay in California and throw chairs to get their attention.
Do people realize Tim Cook is CEO not head of software engineering? I wish he was less cozy with Washington DC (fat chance of that with Lisa Jackson gaining even more power at Apple) but that has nothing to do with software quality at Apple. And let's not pretend it was all roses under Steve Jobs. People bitch just as much about software back then as they do now.
First people say Apple needs to lobby DC more, now Apple is to cozy with DC. Who else is better than the CEO of Apple to express his concerns.

They are definitely NOT friends. They are evil and unethical, believe they have some kind of god-given rights that nobody granted them and are limitless in their arrogance. But the worst is that they systematically, and wilfully deprive hundreds of millions of people their fundamental rights and access to legal remedies. Friends do NOT do that. Enemies do that.

there it is! I knew it wouldn't be long before we saw the nonsense!
next thing you know, gays will be demanding the same rights as straights!
I'm surprised anyone can criticize this. Tim is the CEO and if there's anyone from Apple who is going to forge a relationship with the Chinese president, it really needs to be him. These types of personal relationships are invaluable, especially in the current business environment in China where western companies quickly find themselves on the wrong side of an arbitrarily applied regulation or censorship request or copyright infringement.

Google's there in spirit by spying on the festivities.
The Phone Company van idling across the street from the While House was full of Google employees trying to determine who was seated at Eric's rightful place at the table...
OK, mnbob1, you do make sense here. I must say I'm just pissed off because I cannot update my Apple Watch to V2 software. I looked up on Apple forums and saw nothing but various workarounds. Come on Apple, just release something that updates easily. Apple made such a big deal about the Watch and I did buy one, so I want it to work. I will try to update it again when they do a 2.0.1 release.
It is funny one guy here compared Steve to a "crazy uncle." Well, Steve took back his company that other CEOs had just about ruined and made it into a monster tech machine before it got handed off to Tim. If you are old enough to remember the incredible optimism Steve was generating back then you can imagine why I started to invest into Apple. There was no guarantees that Apple would survive but I believed in the man and took my hard earned money and invested. I also invested into the products by buying them and convincing a lot of people I knew through the years to buy Apple products. I'm not saying I'm done with the company because Steve left. My Apple shopping list for next year will be big and I know I will enjoy the new products (I really like the iPad Pro and pencil!).
You sounds like an incredibly childish man. Grow up.

Have you , I dunno, talked to an Apple genius? Or does complaining about it on the Internet fix your issue?

Enjoy your nap while Apple is fixing your awful system issues. When you wake up maybe Tim will have been in Cupertino screaming and throwing chairs instead of taking care of the security issues in China and increasing business in the worlds largest market.

Had any success with all that complaining?

Did I miss a reference to an Apple legend here?
The first thing I thought of was Ballmer (the chair), and the irony of doing that very thing NOT leading to "getting it right".
