No offense to people who own one, and I know some of you actually like it, but what was Apple thinking?

I could see a kid carrying that, but a grown man carrying it using the built in handle looked absoulutely silly.

But all this goes to show how quickly trendy designs last.

That's why I believe the current laptops will still be stylish many years from now.

Key Lime was the best (after Tangerine of course)

Lime and tangerine were definitely odd, but my blueberry was darling and the indigo was stunning. On the indgo the translucent plastics were replaced by a snow white matte far brighter than the current iMacs... the contrast with the deep colour completely killed the make-op case/toilet-seat aspect of the appearance. On a sunny day the thing blazed light and colour into any spectator's retina. It was something any young person of any age could carry.

They certainly did get too much attention during lectures, though.

Don't knock the handle unless you've tried it for a couple of days. It was really useful, at least until it cracked in the winter.

I also found the blueberry attracted girls, which was a plus.

    oh yeah, we'll you're a quasi-neato-technological fad!

yes, we have resorted to name calling.

I'm not knocking the functionality of it. It was very useful...but it's very purse like design made it rather effeminite. Hence, the reason it attracted girls.

    Apple is definitely getting better.

The SmurfG3 is one of the ugliest computers ever produced. Bondi blue is one of the more horrid colors ever thrown on a consumer product.

I don't know how people actually LIKED those things, they look like absolute jokes. El Capitan is wearing out its welcome, IMO, and I'm hoping for a better design for the PowerMacs soon, they have been suffering for a while.

This whole "shitloads of curvy plastic" phase is dying a much-deserved death.

TiBooks look great. New iMac and eMac look great. Current iBook looks great. PowerMac... not so good.

    [edit]

Ain't a damn thing wrong with black computers. The Pismo is one of the best looking laptops ever.

The problem with the black iMac there is that its surface is so dull and matte, not very even it looks from here. And it's not black enough if anything.

Bondi and Tangerine have been my favorite colors on computers so far. Well, those and the Cube's whitish-silver finish.

But beyond the colors, I think Apple proved that not all plastics are created equal. You could see the difference in quality between the iMac's plastics and all those translucent peripherals that used any old plastic to match it. The color was right but the material looked cheap and junky -- truly toy-like.

I think the color match between the LCD iMac's CD door and the rest of the base could be improved a bit, but it seems to vary a lot with the lighting too. More light tends to make it look better. It's hard to get them to match in any case.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't have any problem with the iMac's CD door colour. It's barely perceptable on mine and that ever slight difference is mostly caused by the outline of the door anyways.

It's close enough that I think we're splitting hairs.

Funny how Mac owners are so demanding eh? Can you imagine any Dell dude concerned about their beige drive bay panel not matching the rest of the box?
