    Heere's my solution...

Once they brag about their system, ask them what they actually DO with thier machine. Usually they will say, "Oh, I surf the web, do email, spreadsheets, and play games" (or some variation of above.

Then I say, "Oh, cause on my Macs I have recorded, mixed, and mastered many CDs, I have designed and maintined complicated websites including testing PERL scripts right on my machine, managed databases, done photo editing, film editing, and burned DVDs, managed mailing lists both snail and email, kept all of my personal finances, calendar, contacts etc, written papers, and assembled a 40 gig MP3 collection that is networked through my house that I listen to on my iPod. Oh, and I also surf the web, do email, spreedsheets, and play some kick ass games."

    That usually shuts them up.

I use to get alot of the same crap about "getting a real computer",

It's less and less these days as many of my PC friends are starting to realize how cool Mac products have become.

But they still point out the whole MHZ issue. Especially when I showed them my new LCD iMac, they were shocked to find out I paid that much for a 700 mhz machine.

But, they realized that a speed of a computer had more to do than just mhz, but only to a point. I had to concede there.

My best comeback is that I've been making money using Macs for the past 15 years...what have you been doing with your PC?

How can I shut him up?

    ( Sorry about the shouting ! ) </strong><hr></blockquote>

You could always just use the old tried and true come back of... "Hmmm you think?? Wait a sec did you come up with this before you became Bill Gate's little monkey bitch or after? But hey thanks for your input TOOL!!!" And if that doesn't work just tell him his mother uses DOS 3.1 <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

buy him that shirt that has the McDonalds-ish PC user and says, "Have you had your crash today?" That one was always my favorite.

Oh, and ask him if he likes the Sopranos... I happen to know that more that 3/4 of HBO's compters are macs (well that was a year or two ago) but Macs have gotten better since then so I wouldn't worry...

    ...That oughta work
