You got me confused with someone else, pal.

As cool as I thought the Cube was, I had my doubts about it from day one (due to the pricing and all).

I dug it (and wish I had one, actually), but I was by no means "the guy who kept telling everyone how big it was going to sell...".

    Wrong guy...check the archives, Sparky.

As a matter of fact, I seem to recall using terms like "overpriced Sharper Image toy" and so forth to describe it.

I wasn't that generous to the Cube, actually.

Then Apple lowered it to $1299 and the piece of junk still didn't sell! What a laugh!!

I think most of the people here at AI have Macs so obviously people buy them.

don't know the latest numbers but in the past 30% of the iMacs sales were to first time mac users and that 30 percent was split about evenly from new users and wintel switchers. that's not bad at all.

but where Apple excels in is their core markets which are education, creative professional and consumer. in those three areas they do extremely well. if you don't include enteprise in marketshare numbers Apple would have a much more significant market share. And considering they really don't go after the enterprise market at all that's not too bad

Wow guys...he just took us ALL to school, didn't he?

Listen up youngster, uncle sdw2001 is going to teach you a few things:

    1) Their market share is 5% overall, over 50% in education...50 ****ing percent and growing....

    2) The percentage of market share is not an appropriate number to use when answering the question of "how many pc users have been converted" or even "how many people bought an iMac instead of a PC" . The reason is that you, like the troll you are, are assuming that the total number of PC users stayed the same while Apple's percentage shrunk. Not true. Though they have lost a few points in recent years, the total number of PC users over the last five years has SKYROCKETED. It is just that more people have bought PC's than Macs.....in other words, the PC market grew at a faster rate than the Mac market did.

That doesn't mean Apple failed at winning over users. In fact there, installed base has most likely increased in terms of actual numbers. Although, they do sell quite a bit to their installed base and I for one do think they need an increase in marketshare.

What good was Apple's 7-10% share when they lost $700 million one quarter? Now, with a 5% share they are consistently profiting.

    Also, you write:

[quote] Apple is always one quarter away from going out of business

umm...no. They have $4B in the bank and aren't going anywhere.

The last part of our lesson today is: please don't reply-quote to to EVERY freakin person whilst making the SAME point in every one of your posts. We can all read ALL of your posts if we choose, though I may not choose to in the future. We can see your lame-ass comments for EACH reply, so there is no need to make the same GD argument each time in the same thread......

Your homework is to read "how to stop being a troll", chapter 16: "Not posting on mac-centric web sites". Your understanding of Apple and computer's in general, expressed in percentage terms, is lower than Apple's market share.

    Class dismissed.

What a joke that is!!!! The creative professional is the only market that apple has complete control of! Which accounts for about 2% of their total 3% market share!

Yea i can't understand why anyone would pay twice as much for an apple computer with very little software, and on top of that most of the software is ported over from windows! Which means it runs like crap! And you pay more for the apple version of software than you would for the windows version!! What is that about??? It's insane!!!!!

    1) The pro towers are overpriced, I agree. But that is because they have an update that is coming....maybe even a very big update.

    2) Very little software---See, if you believe that, then you are just not very well informed. Yes,there are more total titles for Windows. But, the number of good, usable software is not much different. You are just like every other stupid PC troll that comes in here...you think that because there isn't much Mac software in, say, Best Buy, then there must not be that much. The fact is that even with a 5% market share Apple has tons of apps available. You can buy from them, the mac distributors, and soon Apple retail locations. You can also find almost anything online. Do a search on cnet downloads under Mac and see what happens. I don't even want to think of all the shitty, non-functional system destroying windows software I have used.

    3) Software runs like crap? What software? Office runs great even in classic mode. Games almost never crash for me. Ported over from Windows? I don't even think you know what that means. Even if it has been, it still runs and usually runs just fine. Try photoshop and see what it runs like compared to Windows.

Does Windows have usable, stable apps like iTunes and iMovie? These may sound like kiddy play to you, but I have used them and share the opinion of many that they are not only easy to use but are GREAT apps that just keep getting better. Internet Explorer's interface is awesome on the Mac. It is even more stable than before. How about developers like Adobe, Macromedia, Disney and Blizzard...do THEY ignore the Mac?

This isn't just my opinion and every one else's here against yours. It is that your arguments just aren't true. Not even a litte bit! You are totally uninformed.

Yep, your right. No software. Bad software. My mistake!

more importantly....how many computer companies have been around as long as apple?? where's packard bell?? how much longer will compac be around?? what profits are dell and gateway making?? apple basically started the personal computer "and" the professional-user computer...they have a very loyal user base and make a profit with lots of cash in the bank...yipee for them...i know everyone would like them to sell their computers cheaper (so would i), but even if they are more expensive than wintel systems, but run better, are more stable and look a hell of a lot better; i know i'll, and many others, will keep buying them..g

What an entertaining thread. A 10 year old with a crappy user name gets his knickers in a twist for the fact his slut mother bought him a cheap pc, now he's trying to justify his denial by saying apples are sh!te..... and we all bite and answer the mutherfvck... What a laugh, keep it coming, who need dope when you can smoke this!

BTW, I used to use a PC laptop before I bought an iMac.
