Just wondering...can you be more specific. Maybe name some things? I'm sure you're right....i just want a few examples though.

I seem to recall Windows coming out with 95, then updating that with 98..which needed a BUNCH of updates then 98se came out.

So even though OSX doesn't have support for every single periphial out there (I would get on the manufacturer!) neither did Windows.

There isn't anything (to the best of my knowledge, I could be corrected) that I can't do on my mac running OSX that prohibits it from being a truly enjoyable experience. All the apps I have (and periphials) are fully supported.

I didn't expect to ever hear that one from a PC user.

First off, don't get me wrong, my friend I am referring to is very intelligent, very computer literate, which is why I am so amazed at some of the things he says about Macs. It's just an example of someone who is so against Macs that he refuses to gain any knowledge of them before criticizing. Now, I know, a lot of people say this about Mac users and Windows, and especially about people who post comments like this. As a group, however, "Mac users" tend to have more experience with Windows than "Windows users" do with Macs, due simply to the ubiquitous nature of Windows.

    1. Too expensive

    2. Too slow

    3. Uses an underdeveloped operating system

    4. Has much less available software than a Windows Machine.

    5. Does not work well on many websites (the fault of the web develpers I know, but still a reality to deal with as an end user)

1.Expensive? Yeah, I'll grant that, but too expensive? That is subjective. Perhaps too expensive for you, Dell, but for me, the extra cost is worth the elegance, style, and user experience that come with owning a Mac. Take wine for example: you could get a 10 dollar bottle from Stop and Shop, or you could spend $80 on something of finer quality. If you wanted to, you could spend $200 dollars on a bottle of truly excellent vintage. Some people are entirely satisfied with the cheap stuff, but some people will drink only the finest. For those people, $200 is not too expensive

2.Again, this is subjective. I have a TiBook 500, running 10.1.5. It does what I need it to. Sometimes, I wouldn't mind some extra speed. Of course, if I really wanted to, I could go buy a dual-gig PM, that would be faster. I wouldn't mind if Apple released some faster models, but my Ti isn't too slow to do anything that I do with it.

3.Underdeveloped? No. Still evolving and growing? Yes. Yeah, OS X is relatively new, it still has some kinks, but they are being worked out. And if you really don't care to adopt such an "underdeveloped" OS, then use OS 9 for now. The "Classic" OS has been around for nearly 20 years.

4.I think what you really mean is "Has many fewer available games than a Windows Machine. Which is more or less true. But then again, I'm not a gamer, that doesn't concern me that much. As far as software (other than games) there are very few applications available for Windows that are not available for Mac and/or do not have an equal or superior Mac counterpart.

    5. I do not remember exactly when I first began using the internet, but I do know that I got my first modem while I still had my Mac SE/HD. That means it has been, at the very least, 5 years that I have been surfing the web. I actually can't think of any websites that I have encountered that did not work properly because I was using a Mac. And regardless of that, with the recent (much delayed) advant of fully standards comliant browsers, that will be a null and void issue in the very near future, at least for websites that are worth the visit.
