Apple Retail - SoHo
I was just looking at the retail page at apple.com and under Coming Soon it says SoHo, New York City. The link takes you to Short Hills, NJ. Now, I'm no expert in geography or anything, but I'm fairly sure that these are not the same place (being in different states and all), so it seems that they might have screwed up a bit.
Can we take this to mean that the SoHo retail store is also opening soon?

I feel like the SoHo store has been "opening soon" for a year. I think its been talked about since before any of the stores opened. I wouldn't be surprised if it were finally ready. Maybe just in time for MacWorld?

This article mentions when a few Apple stores will open.
I didn't say July 18 for no reason...That's what it said on the Retail page...(it's gone now)

I figured they would remove it soon.
...but who knows?

It's suppose to be a pretty cool and unique one too
of course I don't know 100% that this is correct but the word around town is that Jobs is going to announce the opening during the keynote and it'll open that day.

GET ME AN APPLE STORE IN TORONTO!!! Common Steve, it's practically the USAnyway!

Random:
The last time I was in Toronto, I saw all kinds of women wearing ties Avril Lavigne style. Moms at the supermarket, teenage girls, Sex in the city types wgile doing their laundry.

wow i never thought I would be seriously thinking about this... but since i dont have the $ to get in on the keynote, should I go to the SoHo grand opening instead?
I already have my pass for the exhibits, but being one of the top 5 in line for the grand opening of the SoHo store would be cool, I havent been to any other apple store, so this would be my first time...
do you think they would let me watch the keynote? how would I watch the keynote if they dont let me?
any ideas?

If I'm looking at this right, you don't have to choose. The keynote is Thursday, the 17th. The store opens Friday, the 18th. You can go to both.
Speaking of flagship stores, anyone heard anything about the Mag mile store in Chicago? I know Apple is leasing the building (which is costing them a ton!), but I haven't seen/heard of any progress. I did see, though, that if you go to search for jobs at the Apple job site, onw of the locations they have listed is N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago (which is where the building is. No job openings though.

good point...
damn, i was hoping there wouldnt be any competition to be close to the front as most people would be at the keynote...... oh well now it seems the line will be down the street... im sure a lot of people will stay there all night after the expo closes on wed. the 17th
no thanx, i'll just wake up normal time... hopefully early enough to get a T-shirt tho probably not
I expect the same general construction materials (white wall, wood floor, airy-type atmosphere). what else could they do? they'll probably have all the sections the current stores have.
but what else? what else do you think they'll do? how different will it be?
They do need some kind of a gimmick though...live streaming webcam anybody? Something novel that demonstrates the ease of use/creation on a Mac...
