East on Post Street is downhill there, but not one of the steep streets.
Almost no bus lines, or buses go up the really steep streets (for good reasons).
The street they do go up aren't really worse than going a steep street in Montreal on ice or slush (probably more traction for them...).
Lived 2 years on telegraph hill, so know a bit about SFO hill :-).
As for street being small, I don't see San-Francisco being any smaller than or tighter than any city.
In fact, in many areas they're quite spacious; probably due to rebuilding things all a new after the 1906 fire, which cleared all the tight mess above market.
The local Hearst yellow press failed to mention the bus took down the scaffolding for the upcoming Apple Store. Only found out now checking Apple Insider. Not sure if the rest of the Apple Press mentioned this story. Thanks, Apple Insider, hope the folks injured are recovering.

You can thank Apple for helping create such a sad society.
