The Move to El Capitan - Replacement for InDesign CS5?

I'm not a fan of renting software monthly. I do understand that for Photoshop pros and many larger publishing houses, the cost of Adobe CC is largely irrelevant. That's fine. I just personally don't need the latest and greatest at pro prices. I've been getting along fine with Adobe CS5. I'm not a top-tier power user and I don't feel like I've been missing a whole lot of the newer features.

Given that CS5 no longer runs on Apple's latest operating system (and CS6 doesn't seem to be a whole lot better) I'm in the hunt for new options. Affinity Photo has enough of a pro feel and features (and does CMYK). It looks to be perfect as a Photoshop replacement for me. And the price is unbelievable.

Affinity Publisher isn't due out until next year, and even then will probably need a couple of major updates before it's ready to replace InDesign (I believe the first version isn't slated to have a multi-line composer, among other things.)

Any other options out there? Quark 2015 actually looks pretty good, but one glaring feature I don't see is whether it can open InDesign files. It would be nice to have the ability to open my library of .indd files after I move to El Capitan and Adobe CS5 refuses to open. Even if the files don't open perfectly, it's still a useful timesaver if I can open them up and drag and drop elements to a new document. This is precisely why Apple iWork opens Microsoft Office files. It's hard to switch to new software without support for older files.

Any other CS5-level publishing software options out there, or in the pipeline?

I've been using CS5 on my early 2009 MacPro running ElCap without too many problems. Illustrator wants to crash every once in a while, bot otherwise it works OK.
