That pissed me off so much.

$130 for people who have never used Mac OS X

$130 for people who ALREADY SPENT $130 on Mac OS X

    Makes no sense.

"I was at the keynote and heard some info that I was probably not suppossed to hear from some Apple bigwigs. First the 15" iMac is basically dead as soon as the channels clear."

The low end CRT? That's fine as long as they move the eMac down a price bracket or so.

You don't get 700mhz x86 processors anymore in sub £1000 computers.

"Next there were supposed to be new towers but they were not ready in time (As a note it is almost impossible to find the towers in the Apple booth)."

That'll make it two years in a row then. The dual 1 gig clearly should have been ready at last year's New York show. It wasn't. Moto? Or Apple?

Apple must know that 1.2 isn't going to be good enough? Holding out for those 1.4 G4 yields?

STILL trying to finish a DDR board? Sigh...

"Next Jaguar was going to be given out today but they have some fine tuning to do with Sherlock 3, something to do with rights to use a certain website. "

Shame about that. Giving out Jaguar would have been a nice gesture for the attendees.

This macworld was ****ing lame for hardware but cool for software. Now that Apple has the best collection of user friendly apps in the world and with no doubt the best os with jag"wire". Can they please release a pro machine that is worth their ****ing 3000$!!! I, like others here, dont want to pay for 3 year old technology at twice the price. Damnit Amd has ddr since 2000, cant moto pull their heads out of their asses and produce a real supercomputer chip. Ibm haven't followed Altivec and look where they are, they have the power4, the best chip in the world so far. Apple has to ditch those Motorola bastards!!! Apple has by far the best software but now they need the best hardware too. Or atleast a computer that uses the same tech as the other platform. Shit I think they should know that their dual ghz mac is bus saturated damnit.

    And another thing:

Curse the friggin' inventory. That is what (most likely) caused lack of updated PMs and iMacs (Or this was originally to be a SW feast anyway). Now with the new iMac, the current ones will not get bumped for 3 months at the earliest . Why can't Apple move to a 3 month update schedule? One thing that really irks me is the fact that the economy got it's feet yanked out from under it by the likes of Martha Stewart & Co. and it may not recover for another year (Bad for Republicans). Apple is a company that, above all, makes money. I think that due to the now sucker economy that Apple may push the G5 back from early 2003 to late 2003. Pissing of M$ is not smart either without good hardware. The only ray of hope is all of the high end software company acquisitions, because almost all that software requires very fast equipment.

Another great day for software, horrible for Hardware. Oh well, looks like I'll pick up a TiBook so I can grab a cheep copy of 10.2

BTW: The software, and future strategies Steve showed of is jaw-dropping. We just need hardware to run it...

    Crusader. Total agreement.

The software is astounding. The integration...all within Jaguar. Seamless. Stunning. A great day for software...!

The hardware? (The top iMac is NEARLY there...)

    Oh...dear...

    ...deary me...

Well, as stated above and by myself in other posts, the software is truly jaw to the floor awesome. It is also very key to the tech industry as it may help set some important M$ fighting precedents.

But, as usual over the last 2 years, the hardware wasn't there.

The 17" iMac is so close that I don't even feel the need to complain except for a few small things. 100Mhz Bus? should be 133 and it should have the same 1MB L3 as the TiBook. I know that might make it virtually impossible to sell 800 and 933 towers, but you're hardly selling any of those now. Why not hit a grand-slam instead of a stand-up triple? <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Still the wide 17" should adress most screen real-estate/expansion concerns. You could even get buy running FCP3 on it. Nice Job, but there'll be a few inclined to wait just a little more. Like I said, it always seems to be the difference between a triple base hit and home-run with Apple. Sprint, damn it, slide, work for that run!

Everyone take a deep breath and exhale. Do this several times.

Think secret was right about the MWNY predictions, they have a good chance at being right about the August PowerMac update too. One month wont kill anyone.

I (finally) wrote an e-mail to sjobs@apple a minute ago (CC'd to glendalegalleria@apple) regarding NO DVD BURNING SOLUTION FOR A POWERBOOK.

    It SUCKS!

I am forced to pay $1000 for DVD Studio Pro PLUS $500+ for a DVD-R drive, while my neighbor bought an $1800 iMac and burns DVD's for free.

Solution #1 (suggested by Josh Look @ Apple Store in Glendale, CA): Put iDVD on the shelf for $60.

    Solution #2: Provide an Apple-branded DVD-R drive.

Solution #3: Put a Superdrive in the Powerbook (I know it's only 1" thin, but I didn't choose to design it that way.)

Apple's idea of a Professional: someone with deep pockets.
