And people need to stop using Windows as an excuse for not making major changes to iTunes. I can't remember the last time I used iTunes on my PC. With OTA software upgrades desktop iTunes isn't that necessary anymore. And how about completely separating the App Store from iTunes. iTunes should be about music, movies and TV shows, not iPhone and iPad apps.
It is no longer an excuse because of the cloud technology. Look at 'Slack': Their product is available as both a downloadable desktop app and online web app.
Having said that, it is about time Apple moves iCloud.com to Apple.com.
I listened to a podcast today that included Tim Bajarin. He is an industry analyst that has covered Apple since the beginning. His comments about this reorg seem to indicate that Eddy Cue is a deal maker, that's what he enjoys doing. I don't think media deals and content really have anything to do with cloud services. I really don't think he's the guy to be running Apple's cloud services. Tim Cook should poach someone from Amazon, Microsoft or Google to run its cloud business and that person should report directly to him or Jeff Williams.
Daniel you're one of the best writers in tech these days. It's like a breath of fresh air -a journalist who actually writes like a journalist and editors that don't pander or clickbait with a headline. Keep up the good work.
He is a product guy. Very focused. I love what he did in the iPod era. The clickwheel was a clever breakthrough invention that is still relevant today. Here's hoping for a virtual 3D touch clickwheel.
His 'can't innovate, my ass' was a bit unfortunate and belongs in the world of twitter though. He should start a parody twitter account and join the online banter with 'not Jony Ive' and 'hair force one'.
I disagree. It needed to be said. People (Wall Street analysts, tech writers, non-cult members) think that just because Apple is quiet, nothing is happening behind the scenes. It is a fallacy. Apple doesn't trumpet every minor achievement like barges, delivery drones, contact lens glucose reading, etc. As a result, "people" under-estimate Apple.
