A couple questions about a storage space issue I'm having.

So I went to update my iPhone and I got a warning box saying I didn't have enough room on my HDD... WWHHHHAAAA? In an attempt to figure out what was chomping up my HDD I downloaded the trial version of Disk Expert and found a couple interesting things:

1: it appears when I migrated from iPhoto to Photos it duplicated the library somehow! WTF?

Is there a way to combine these two libraries somehow?

The other strange thing I found was this:

All I could find (in an admittedly short google search) was links to various driver sites. But note the modified date. Essentially the day I got the Mac or shortly thereafter. Does anyone know what on earth this file is, where it could be from or what it might be for? does it have anything to do with the OS and can it be deleted? I have zero recollection of downloading it, but then again, that was six years ago.

Thanks for reading!

I believe that just deleting the old library will be good enough, as long as you don’t use iPhoto anymore.

    Aha. Ok. Fingers crossed!

Update: of the 128GB it said it was, deleting it only freed up 15GB or so. Oh well, it's something. Guess I'll go ahead and delete that mysterious .dmg while I'm at it.

Yeah, that's what I found with a quick "Google" search. I don't have a Windows or Linux partition. I couldn't seem to find anything about trojans being packed in a file called that. Very strange. Maybe Bootcamp uses it? I have no idea.
