Pretty sure Apple researched wireless CarPlay to death. (a hell of a lot more than VW).
Apple decided it was a 'no-go' for now.
    I believe them.

Why is wireless in front of CarPlay?  That's like saying Wireless Bluetooth?  I mean so what if you can plug your phone into the car, I would assume CarPlay is wireless, so if you said only CarPlay I would assume everything about it including wired or wireless
Same reason "wireless" is in front of data for "wireless data".

We all knew the reason Amazon Prime wasn't on Apple TV. It was clear Amazon never wanted to pay the 30% to Apple.
wrong. they have an iOS streaming app already, and dont pay 30% of those memberships to Apple.
They are not "membership" fees. They don't pay it on iOS because they don't sell Prime Membership subscription through their iOS app. The app is basically a viewer.

and why do you think itd be any different on tvOS?

look, im not the one who suggested Prime isnt on Apple TV because Amazon doesnt want to pay 30%, you are. thats absurd, because as iOS shows its not necessary for a viewer.

I don't know why you are worked out over this. I am saying the same thing as you. It was and still is Amazons choice for not releasing tvOS app. We disagree on why.

VW:  We are now adopting Android Auto. We admit we made a terrible error of judgement and apologise.

Is that what Apple wants to see?

Android has a pretty decent market share in Germany with 75% of smartphone sales in 2015.
    Market share again. Yawn...

Wake me up when you have something exciting to say about Android.

i have no idea what you're talking about, or what you think you know about my emotional state.

you said amazon didn't want to release an Apple TV app because of the 30% issue:

"We all knew the reason Amazon Prime wasn't on Apple TV. It was clear Amazon never wanted to pay the 30% to Apple."

...i said thats a non-issue because its not necessary for anybody to pay 30% for a simple viewer app since there are no transactions, and that they've already got one on iOS which confirms this. now you're backpedaling or something.

If I were Apple, or any company for that matter, I would want to keep my tech away from VW. They are a lousy excuse for an auto maker. They should get shut down for being such pieces of crap and altering their emissions to gain more profits. I own an auto transport company, Auto Transport Quote Services, and I literally haven't transported a VW since the news broke. No one is buying them any more.

Still a lousy reason though. If the implication here is that Apple didn’t allow VW to demo Wireless CarPlay due to VW acting unethically, then it may as well stop doing business with China because God knows they’re not the most ethical of countries. Hypocritical actually.
What a nonsensical post. Apple does no business (or very little business) with the Chinese government. It is selling to the Chinese people, who have little to do with the Chinese communists running the country.

Your argument is tantamount to suggesting that VW's customers are responsible for its unethical and deceptive behavior. Apple should not be doing business with -- or at least, have as its tech spokesperson -- a blatantly fraudster company.

I am saying this despite the fact that CarPlay rollout is a complete disappointment thus far, and Apple needs all the momentum it can get. But it has to be with the right partner,  one that reflects Apple's values.
I would say CarPlay is a slow rollout, not a disappointment.  There are a lot of 2016 models that are guaranteed to have CarPlay and more in 2017. It's gaining momentum. HomeKit included.

Market share does matter in certain cases. Didn't Ford just decide to go with Amazon's Alexa instead of Siri for its auto system? I have to wonder just what is going on with Apple. Siri doesn't seem to be getting better, every time they upgrade iOS something weird happens ( such as auto fill and text selection within web pages which stopped working properly on all my iDevices). I far prefer the Apple TV to Amazon's Fire TV but the latter gives you access to really good Prime content. I can't stand Siri and it seems Apple is just standing still on that front. OSX is in limbo, the Mac App Store is a disaster and Apple is becoming a one product company. Not good ...

I do agree that Apple should not showcase products which don't work properly. That may be the case with the VW situation. However, they should follow their own advice and get their OS and hardware acts together.

The emissions' fiasco was pretty bad. People are still buying Volkswagon cars. It's not as though there is a plethora of great car companies.

They haven't selected jack shit. But, hey your narrative would be messed up if you actually googled.

"Ford's newest play for the smart experience is pairing their SYNC-equipped vehicles with Amazon Echo and Alexa. At CES 2016, Ford has announced that they are developing ways to pair "millions of SYNC-equipped vehicles" around the world with SMART PRODUCTS FROM YOUR HOME. To begin, they're working with SYNC Connect, pushing connections to Amazon's products - Amazon Echo and their smart assistant system Alexa. This connection will allow voice control access between smart cars and smart homes."

Non exclusive. SYNC already connected to Carplay and Google Auto.

Got that. Now, you can continue your FUD...

Regardless of how you feel, people are buying them. Their total sales for the US in 2015 was up 0.4% over 2014. Granted, that's not a huge increase but the truth is the emissions scandal never really effected them to the extent that people thought or had hoped it would.

I'm not a VW fan (or employee) but their lapse in judgement over emissions did not result in or have them try to cover-up multiple deaths to "gain more profits". Perspective. Don't get me wrong because I still feel that criminal charges should be applied against someone(s). And yes, I'm in the automotive field too (not sales or service).
