Of note there's been over 5 million Google Cardboard devices shipped so far, at least 1.5M unique users and more than 1000 VR apps available
(assorted quality of course)
on Google Play. There's a least a curiosity interest in virtual reality.

Apple usually will come out with a way cooler product in different league, championed in that front, with very good technology behind them.
