I’m probably all alone in this, but to me the sad thing about the SE is that it'll have a 4" screen instead of a 3.5" screen.
Back when the 3rd Generation iPod Touch came out alongside the iPhone 4, I thought, “wow, someday I’ll have an iPhone as thin and small as this!” Literally every iPhone since then has been larger than the last.

Actually, you're not alone, if you're referring to aspect ratio. 4:3 has always seemed more "right" to me. Maybe that is the decades of my viewing CRTs talking, or more recently, all my iPads...

maybe in ten years when they’re credit-card-thin…
I thought the black iPhone 4S was a great phone, and felt really good in the hand, so I somewhat agree however I believe that they could have put a 4 inch screen into the same size chassis as the iPhone 4S's if they had simply moved the selfie camera to the side of the ear speaker, and shaved a few millimeters above and below the home button. I don't mind the smaller 3.5" screen but there's no need to suffer with it either.
I take my iPad mini with me everywhere just like my iPhone 6. For me, if the 5E is not technologically crippled versus the "7", I'd op for the smaller phone.
Usage poll: Does anyone use a 6 Plus (or 6S Plus)--a smaller iPad mini if you will--along with an Apple Watch?
I *love* the iPad mini form factor and I still love my unlimited AT&T data plan I'm grandfathered into, so to have a iPhone 7 Plus with an Apple Watch means I only take out my iPhone 7 Plus--aka iPad mini--when needed and use Apple Watch for the little things.
15M seems like a low-ball estimate to me. I estimate 20-25M during 2016 if it will have an A9 processor, the iPhone 6S' camera, and will support Apple Pay.
But you have to keep in mind of these phones have matured. There is much less need to upgrade now except due to damaged screens etc.
