As a professional in business development, I don't feel Apple regression to re-invest in 4 inch iPhone would attract more people to their ecosystem. Those people are already using the oversized Android devices and I doubt those people would sacrifice their big screen for the iOS.
A better move for Apple though could been a 4.7" iPhone 6 size device with possible less specs than actual iPhone 6.
