On a related note, the free iCloud storage tier should be tied to the size of the storage on your iPhone.
I can see Phil Schiller, when he announced that he would be giving users free iCloud storage, putting his pinky to the corner of his mouth and proudly proclaiming, "We will give users...FIVE GIGABYTES [zoom to closeup of mouth] of free storage!"
Crickets.
Awesome news. Got a 64GB 6 Plus (didn't have any 128GBs at the time) and i figured it would be plenty after only having 16GB on my iPhone 5. Boy, did that 64GB fill up quickly. I will most assuredly get the 256GB option this time around. I shoot a lot of video of my kids and was surprised how quickly that ate up space.
32 > 128 > 256 would be awesome. But Phil Schiller loves upselling so I'm sure there's a catch somewhere.
Your vendetta against Phill Shill, whom you call out by name at every single opportunity, is pretty fucking tiresome. Don't pretend to have a full understanding of who signs off on these kinds of decisions, because you don't.
What makes you think iPad flash is cheaper than iPhone flash for the same capacity? It's $150 in iPad lines, expect the same in iPhone. And by the way, if there's 32GB, no way in hell Apple will keep 64GB. They'll harmonize the memory line up for both iPhone and iPad: 32/128/256 for $150/jump
I can just imagine when I am at my granddaughters high school graduation in 15 years, where she is asking me how did you ever survive with only 16GB. She will be wondering since her device has 256PB and still runs out of space by storing to many 3D holograms and that holodeck app is a real memory hog.
And 15 years ago a Powerbook G4 came with 128MB RAM and 10GB storage.
Won't be at all surprised if they offer 256GB on the iPhone, and people who care about that sort of thing will buy it. It's also likely that they'll go from 16GB to 32GB at the bottom end.
Will have to see how the prices work out. I was quite happy with 64GB on my phone, but the 128GB phone was only A$3 more a month on the plan I wanted, so I decided to upgrade. I still think I'd have gotten by with 64GB, but can't deny 128GB has been useful. If the difference between models is the same, or similar, then I might be tempted.
But...the US$ is quite strong at the moment, and the A$ is quite weak (certainly weaker than it was when I got my iPhone 6). Apple is pretty good at keeping its pricing consistent with exchange rates (despite what some local press would have you believe), but this has resulted in newer devices costing substantially more in local currency.
But, but, but ... There's no reason to offer 32GB base storage, 16GB is plenty for most people ... The 16GB models are flying off the shelves ..."
Where are all of these Apple appologists now?
why don't you quote some of those supposed apologist messages? because I don't think anyone said that. what people like myself said was, the entry level 16gb was fine for some people. people like my parents who just wanted a good replacement for their flip phone and to take pictures with. yes, some people have different needs than others.
who the hell needs 256 on a phone? unless you're using it as an external hard drive?
Well if you are abroad on a longer journey, and you don't have good network opportunities?! And if you you cant offload to network nor into usb devices on iphones and if you need to travel lightly and cant/dont want to have a computer with you. Then what options do you have if you want to make that video/photo thing work? Android vs 256GB Iphone? Or some wireless disc...

I'm wondering when the next iPhone changes the display density to 1080 x 1920 for the 4.7 model and UHD 3,840x2,160. If they don't change the design this year they really need to lower prices (32 GB $599, 64 GB $649, 128 GB, $749, and 256 GB $849)
Well, I bought the SE with 64G, have stored a slew of favorite pics, and many playlists, and have yet to come to even a third of storage. For me, the 64G is great. My only problem is...the SE "rattles".....literally.

I'll drop back to 32GB from 64GB. It's plenty for me.
