Plus my iPod has a few GB worth of mp3s that aren't on my computer (of course, most of the songs on it are from my computer).
Top three artists (by size):
Radiohead - 2.10 GB
R.E.M. - 1.81 GB
Pink Floyd - 1.11 GB
The majority of my mp3s were ripped from my own CD, some were ripped from friends CDs. Some were aquired in other ways (most live concerts were downloaded on hotline, before hotline started sucking). A bit of the music I recorded myself (a couple concerts).
I dunno how many days it is, but I have about 29Gb of mp3s. I have 4-5 per genre for my fav genres. I like listening to the Bing Crosby Xmas Album at Christmas time .
Btw, does anyone know software that would make a list of all the filenames in all subdirectories of a certain folder (possibly with the path name too). I want to make a list of my mp3s but I don't feel like writing out all 7000+ songs. I'm only on a windows box now, I'm ordering my TiBook tonight or tomorrow.
edit:
Even during my 'all linux' phases. I still leeched mp3s with gnapster. But that was back in the day, when Napster was king and Pirates were gods. or soemthing like that.

when u get the ti, you can use iTunes3. it'll put your entire library with path and idv3 info into a text file.
as for me, I have 4 days, 3 hours, 10 mins, 0 seconds, of music. it comes out to 5.37GB. its a mix bag improperly collected and honestly owned. i have barely touched my cd collection though (in terms of rippage). i gotta whole lotta rippin i still gotta do. and if i had to guess which bands take up the most space, it'd prolly b the stones, the floyd, the dead and dylan.

So you think that I can fit 29GB of mp3s onto a 30GB drive and along with OS X ?
How do you get iTunes to display a more precise figure? When I inserted a CD, it listed the time as "1 hour," but when I added all the times up it was more like an hour and six minutes. They aren't the same figure. It's nice to know exactly how long any given group of songs is, for purposes of burning to a CD.
I don't know how many days of music I have. I think about two. I have around 550 songs, but they're not on my computer because the hard drive is too small. They're stored only on my iPod. And it sucks, because they have to be in storage on my iPod, so they're not playable. No music for me until I get a bigger hard drive.

u can keep the drive in the winbloze box. and give the ti access to it (with a samba for example). then add all the songs to the library, and export the song list.

i like taking my powerbook to a friends house and coming home with like $800 worth of cds.
This is on our OSX server drive at the office, and can be accessed by anyone at any terminal. Very cool.
5 days, 8 hours and 9 mins.
But I've had to burn a lot to cd. It's a 40 Gb laptop drive and I keep running it to below 1 Gb free space...

MrBojanglez50 when I make my Carracho server this Fall, let's trade
Alas only 5 gigs of MP3, on my iPod, since my Deathstar IBM 45 GXP died!!!

Almost all of which was leeched on a 56k =\\.
EDIT: OH CRAP! I thought I reset the board somehow.
