It stays around in the Notes app obviously.

Oh, did you see that iOS 10 is bringing Siri support to Ireland, Ireland? At least, that’s what CultofMac is saying, and I assume that just means configuration for Irish accents. Thought it already had that, though.

There is more to this I think.

I think this is more to do with them being able to update the apps independently from iOS updates.

The idea of taking apps previously baked into the OS and putting them in the Play Store. Google did this in response to Samsung omitting several stock apps most notably the Google search app on the Samsung Galaxy S 2.

The Bing search app was included but not Google's, and while the SGS 2 had Google's app store the users were unable to get the missing Google apps.

In the next version of Android Google took measures of preventing that from happening again by taking certain apps out of the OS and making them downloadable by the user.

Cool.  So only Phone, Settings and Safari are excluded?

Wouldn't mind being able to hide the icon for phone.app too, tbh,  I never press it since Viber is my gateway to phone.
It is a iPhone, phone being the keyword. So I just don't see that going away. Buy a iPod in that case. I would also assume the App store is also excluded. it would be kind of hard to get anything back with that gone.
