iMac monitor doesn't light up

My 27" iMac won't light up. It 'bongs' when I reboot and gets warm but otherwise nothing works.  I can't access it from another iMac. 

Any suggestions will be gladly received.

    I still have the same problem with the 27" iMac; however, after several reboots, I can now access it from another iMac. It's dark but evidently operating in some manner.

    GPU or Screen. Have you tried connecting it to an external display?
