Why mention that Google started using this data privacy technique first? Why is it that everytime Apple innovates and implements new technology there's always some stick in the mud that has to point that Google is already using it?
Because Apple, at its core, is a follower when it comes to basic technologies. Woz chose the MOS Technologies 6502 because he could get it cheap. From the GUI to Differential Privacy there’s not a single technology that Apple actually invented. Improved, revolutionized, promoted, pushed, championed, simplified, yes. Invented, no. Even the patents Apple brought to market like ADB, NuBus, etc. were proprietary versions of pre-existing technologies (SCSI for example.) So if one is a spec monkey neckbeard you might gravitate to new whizzbang technologies even of they don’t work quite right. If one values refinement, elegance, ease of use, great design, simplicity, and just want things to work you might gravitate to Apple. At least that’s why I personally gravitated to Apple the first time I saw the Apple ][+ in 1982. At that time there were dozens of personal computer brands to choose from but I grokked Apple instantly. I don’t care who invented or implemented what first. I care about who takes the invention to its highest point of consumer usefulness. And that’s almost always Apple.
I find this all interesting considering all the news about people leaving Apple because they could not use personal information to make search and such better. I wonder if it was more about the people who complained the most and the loudest did so because the lack the understanding and ability to use differential privacy methodology. It sounds like Apple was trying to span the gap between privacy and good information collection.
Again, if apple was trying to make search and information gathering better and also honor people privacy, what was these people real complaint then.

I've not seen anything to indicate this would be useful in a search engine, but perhaps you have? It looks as tho Apple is currently planning to use it for the same general types of data gathering that Google and maybe some others use it for, which at least for now is limited.
No, you made claims. False claims that show you imply Apple invented full disk encryption and that Google implemented it first. Both of which are wrong.
My advice is to adapt better reading skills without letting your emotions control what you post, because clearly you misunderstood my example, that contrasted how a cross-reference use of a technology would also be perfectly fine for a website that was detailing an Android feature that also referenced when Apple had added the features years earlier.
I see you're still looking for an argument when there wasn't one. Fine, I'll bite. When Apple introduced encryption in their phones there were tons of Fandroids pointing out that Android already offered encryption. Apple's implementation was far superior and it's turned on by default but that didn't stop the Fandroids. If you don't remember this then maybe it's your reading skills that are lacking. I'm done getting trolled by you so feel free to respond so you can get the last word, but I'm not feeding you again on this matter.
Show a single article that supports your claim that Android had full disk encryption before Apple or stop backpedaling.

I'd say it's obvious this is exactly what Apple was and is doing. All advancements need to be done with privacy and security at its core, especially after the antics of the US gov't. last year.

1) They only announced it last week so limited would be an understatement.
2) At the most rudimentary level, this would easily improve privacy when paired with a search engine? Consider the internet search engine dumps we've seen over the years where an otherwise anonymous results led viewers to figure out who made the queries based on their search results, which also led to more private information being overturned. Differential privacy would presumably keep that from happening without weakening the overall insight into a groups' search results.
Apple protects their iPhone business. Google protects their ad revenue business.
Apple wins by building secure software to maintain trust in the global market. Google wins by building secure software while simultaneously "innovating" ways to also track you better than ever before.
