    1. Original HFS/Mac volume size was 400K- not 800K
    2. ZFS was abandoned  because because
    • It was not SSD optimized
    • It was vulnerable to patent infringement (not judging validity)

    Bit error rate/CRC is (and must be) addressed by all current internal SSD driver level. There are advantages to also including at the file system level, but the payoff may not be as important as you would think.
