The game probably can't handle stealing that many users' data at once.  I bet if Nintendo had paired with Apple instead of some turd that Google pooped out there wouldn't be server issues.  I hope Nintendo is learning their lesson about who they partner with.  They should have come to Apple.
Might've been OK where apple-maps are semi-decent (US?), in Scotland, they're abysmal. I've tried numerous times to use them but even the simplest search for a street I know is nearby takes me to the other side of the world! Or typing in an exact address, with town etc. points to a totally different named town 10 miles away :|. Sometimes it just doesn't have the street listed at all, even main streets in a city like Aberdeen. For a game that relys so heavily on location and maps integration, and bringing it worldwide, they had no choice but to use google.
