You know that single button on the right hand side, that wakes the phone when you press it.

It might just be that one.

    Android is so much simpler.

One day perhaps, a hard reset will require giving the iPhone a hard shake, just like in the old days of electronics, I remember those days!
Or hit it with a hammer.  That always worked in the past.

My Friends old Ford 'Anglia' still requires the Hammer treatment. The Starter motor does not always disengage properly so can't start the engine again.
For those on the Left Hand side of the Pond this is what it looks like
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Anglia. His is a superbly restored 105E model in two-tone Blue and white as it is an ex-police 'Panda' car.
I wouldn't want to take a hammer to eny electronic kit unless I was hell bent on destryoing it.

That's a soft reset. A hard reset is a restore, which wipes the data.

This makes perfect sense...  Ever since they moved the Wake button from the top to the side, it seems like I now hit the Down + Wake buttons at the same time at LEAST five times a day!
How many of these five times do you also hold the buttons down for 10 seconds?

Slightly related item here (implications of what occurs when some hardware gets removed)-- some of the rumor mill thinks that the Lightning port could be removed on the next iPhone in favor of wireless charging. If this is done, I wonder how the firmware would get reloaded to an unresponsive phone when put into DFU mode? Perhaps a separate chipset with wireless and its own firmware just for doing this?
