    Interesting.

so... Apple would only spend upwards of 2 billion on a supercar company with all the crazy engineering talent and facilities required to make cars like that possible...

yet it paid 3.2 billion for a crappy headphone company with a crappy app.

    That seriously adds some perspective.
You're saying it wrong. They spent 3 billion on a very profitable headphone company. One who is probably the leading accessory seller for mobile devices...beats are everywhere. Their products literally plug into each other, and apples already made their money back.

Complete troll BS.  With continued success of Apple Music and the growth in Beats headphone revenue, and Beats wireless line now using the W1 chip, the acquisition of Beats looks better all the time.
Dunno why some hater downvoted you, because that's completely right. Thank god none of the usual trolls and haters are actually in charge of running anything.

If Apple is truly going to get into cars, buying a company is the easiest way to get tooling, platforms, people, etc.  When one wants to re-invent the wheel, one starts buy buying a wheel.

That's some good tasting kool-aid you got there. Before Apple acquired Beats NOBODY was saying they needed to buy a headphone company. Beats headphone revenue is meaningless to Apple's financials.

Apple didn't need a headphone company and Beats revenue is a blip on Apple's financials. I bet if you looked prior to acquisition you wouldn't find one post here advocating Apple purchase Beats. Tesla or Netflix sure but Beats? No way. Yeah a lot of paid celebrities wear them but people that want good quality headphones aren't buying Beats.

Most people don't buy "good quality" headphones anyway, but even then, Beats aren't the worst of the bunch by any stretch, especially for the wearers that like lots and lots of bass.

I never advocated for Tesla, Netflix or Beats acquisitions, but I get that it was to shore up Apple's music efforts, and frankly, now that Apple is in the wireless and Lightning Headphone business, it looks like a savvy buy.

As for the "blip", practically everything that's not an iPhone looks like a blip on Apple's financials, but in the outside world, those little blips dwarf companies and markets.

More to the point, Apple seems to have done well without you as their CEO; why might that be?

Who's the source and what were their motives? Also, if you are in acquisition talks they are not investment talks—different. If you are buying a company you're not investing in it per se.
That's a good point but only time will tell if Apple is actually buy McLaren.

In any case I am now reading a new rumor about Apple buying Lit Motors.
I think that would be even cooler and a lot less expensive than McLaren.

;-) I like ktm x-bow better... it might be a bit cheaper than McLaren, hopefully, the electrical motor plus self driving would be still in the range of current 70K... too pricy to buy, just high enough to dream about it...

Well I sure hope Apple stays away from FULLY self driving cars.
Driving assist technology great, but fully self driving cars would certainly leave Apple open to lawsuits WHEN  failures occur.
IMO this fully self driving car activity is going to lead to big troubles.    :s

    Financial Times writer stands by story;

What does he mean “obviously”? He was proven wrong. Fucking every single media outlet needs to be shut down. They’re nothing but worthless, lying toddlers.
