There are fewer members posting and it dropped like a stone. I think it has something to do with the front door (http://www.appleinsider.com) not working. I think it could be the case that some think oh no Appleinsider is down again.
I think the lack of good material is also a problem. Some members are just looking at the titles and not posting because they have nothing to add. I'll bet a pound to a penny that if we had a post from Dorsal the boards would light up again.
Oh and by the way what is happening to the front door?
I've looked at other "appleystuff" sites and found them to be either very boring (can't beat a good 'ol flaming in FC) or hardly used (Think..about it).
I've found you guys are a pretty intelligent lot (with a few notable exceptions ) and I can ask stupid questions every so often without getting too much crap for it
Sh!t fights are common all over forums on the 'net and I believe we have one of the best here!
PowerMac G5 still don't know why my "source" was wrong. he nailed the iMac down to the smallest detail. If you look at the macAddict rumormill forum for threads before the iMac announcement I listed the high end iMac nearly dead on except for prices
To be honest, I think its a combination of Apples complete lockdown on rumour mongering, and while I have no beef with any one moderator*, I got completely ratted when I've recently been to FH and found 60-70% of the threads locked, some even several pages long.
...
*That Scottish faggot twat excepted.

I'd love for you to show me some examples of this.
The only time that anywhere near 60-70% of the threads were "locked" was when the new PowerMac was released and I moved the threads to Current Hardware.
MarcUK, I tend to lose my sense of humor whenever the word "faggot," any of it's derivitives or close relatives are spoken, or in this case written by anyone. Much less straight people. So hopefully, I missed the joke.
But I don't think I did. In which case, that was completely uncalled for and completely unnecessary. Even if I hated Jamie and thought that he was the worst thing to happen to the internet, I would still think this.
I sincerely hope that you are able to make your point without attacking someone's sexual orientation. Becase if you can't I sincerely pity you.
Personally, I agree with applenut when he says that this place is much better than it's alternatives. I agree with pscates when he says that he's rather hang out here than any other place like this. I personally think that all of the moderators are doing a good job, and thisnk that they should continue to do their jobs as they currently are.
If all of you will recall, a while back there was a thread called "Post Your Age" or something like that. What I learned from that thread, besides the fact that the younger members don't like being called "kids" is that a good many of the people here are indeed young. It's September. People are back in school. They have classes to go to, homework to do, tests to study for, sports to play. They have more to do than to sit around all day posting to AI. If it didn't slow down, I would be very worried.
MarcUK I'm afraid your comments say more about you than Jamie.
Jamie/Spooky Is the removal of AppleOutsider and Fireside Chat a serious suggestion? I was under the impression these forums were created because members want to discuss non Apple related issues, myself included. Without them, won't the General in General Discussion be taken a little too literally?

The removal of non-Apple discussion is most certainly not a serious suggestion on my part, no.
There seems to be a kind of apple mafia that have taken over AI in recent months that I think puts a lot of people off. Debate is really non existent - there seem to be a lot of people out there who know everything
A typical AI post often follows the same pattern:
Original Poster: If apple don't get a G5 out soon how long do you think they can last?
Poster 2: yawn (cue smilies)
Poster 3: get real kid. Apple ain't goin' nowhere. get your head out of your a*se.
Poster 2: hey <insert AI name here), long time no hear from?
Original Poster: No really. I went into <insert store name here> and saw 12 people seduced by the Mhz into buying wintels.
Poster 4: jeez buddy go buy a peecee and STFU!
Poster 5: actually you show an incredible ignorance. The G4 thingy wotsit 2kbit, DDDDram-rw binary cooling fruitloop outperforms any processor except for the MitsuRaki raw fish company Coderon 2.5Ghz. Their are 2.5million registers in the A blcok code pipeline of the station break pineapple that makes the G4 far moe efficient . . . ad nauseum.
Poster 3: hey! its my 1 millionth post!
original Poster: I can't see how apple can call their power macs 'pro' machines when they get beat down by top of the range 3D workstations.
Poster 6: STFU original poster. Apple is doing fine. Apple is brilliant at everything. Apple never makes mistakes and their computers are dirt cheap. Stop whining you moron and go back to your playpen.
Poster 7: couldn't have said it better Poster 6.
Original Poster: hang on! Apple's computers cost a lot of money.
Poster 8: where the f*ck do you live Original poster? Me and some of the guys here are coming round to beat the cr*p out of you. Stick to winblows dude. Apple will always be king. Apple can do no wrong.
Poster 9: if apple keeps on going the way that they are then in 5 years they will have 99% market share. *CONFIRMED*
Original Poster: can we ever expect a G5 ?
Poster 10: Not this again. Listen: There will never be a G5 - Steve said so.
Poster 11: hey <insert AI name here> getting any?

people didn't keep abusing everyone who dared to criticise apple
didn't keep belittling people who chose to fight the RDF
didn't keep getting full of posts wallowing in apple complacency
wasn't full of posters who thought that apple could do no wrong and bullied those who disagreed
allowed people who want apple to not only survive but kick ass to vent their frustration
then
AI might be thriving some more . . .

Oh well, looks like I just got banned, Oh well!

No, maybe if you had made homophobic and racist remarks to someone who gives a **** but you didn't.

Since when?
actually, he's probably out on a date right now.
double post... Does that mean that he has two boys over there?
He gets around.
this is no longer an all things apple site. Its just become a place for people to spew their bile and strut their 'tudes.
Its not big and its not clever

Sounds rather like real life actually doesn't it.
So spooky, in your opinion should we get rid of AppleOutsider and Fireside Chat and ban all non-Apple discussion?
