Maybe this has been brought up, but won't Apple get the preview of the next gen nVidia's. You know, the oneswith their revolutianary architecture planned for August -september. Apple will get all the jadaadaadada and the next gen of nVidia . AS always Apple gets all the credit and gets more customers.

Just a thought.

With Jaguar...it would be a nice addition to the 'power'Mac line.

Even better? A 'G5' to go with them both!

If I recall correctly nForce 2 will also be introduced 1 days after Steve's keynote. Which would be a much better thing to have than a 3D card, I might add.

    "What's an nForce?"

It would be interesting to see how an 'Nforce 2' chipset stacks up against the current/newly intro'd mobo 2 for the G4 in terms of throughput...

Any tech' heads out there know the thru' put numbers of the Nforce 2?

PPC Nforce 2 with new Geforce 5? juicy?

very juicy.... im back here at the rumor mills because i actually think im getting a new machine in august, whenever i can get a friend and family discount. I was close to getting a 933 with a 17" asd, but i decided to sit on the fence... i mean i know im going to spend x amount of money, so why not wait until a new machine comes out. middle model at a dual 1 or 1.2 would be great for me a GF4Ti would be awesome as well, but a card with an NF2 chipset would be even greater...

    R300!!!

R300 is being announced like a day after the Steve-note. I sure hope it's an option for the new towers.

That's what an nForcer will do if you don't pay your bookie's tab.

I read a bit of an article involving the CEO of Nividia in wired or sumthin...

he wants his graphics cards to more or less become the new intel... takin over the traditional tasks the CPU would... this kinda fits with Extreme Quartz... (thats what its called right>

Gee... I think I remember posing this possibility of Apple and nVidia joining forces and introducing the nForce on a future system and I got slammed and told I was a idiot for thinking this would be a likely senerio. Now you guys are sitting around speculating the same thing. Hummm.

Don't worry, I was an idiot back when I suggested OpenGL acceleration for the UI.

nForce chipset may show up in Powermacs, but not at MWNY....

IF Apple were to use such technology, they would wait until all the Wintel boxes had offered it standard for at least 18 months, then adopt the low-end nForce chipset and brag about the "n" myth.

Yep, so was I. In addition I was a crabby bastard for saying that Raycer was not ever going to produce a 'chip' for UI/encoding/rendering, but rather that a 'software/API/OpenGL' solution would put the already powerful, if limited, GPU to use for something better than games.

Weren't we short-sighted. To bad none of us had the vision of a Kormac.

Honestly why are we talking about nForce anyways. I mean it's a great motherboard if you're looking for as much integration as you can get but it's not the top performaning architecture out there. Powermacs need a little more power. nForce 2 is due on the 15th and it's going to be a boon for low cost systems as it's top model incorporates a Geforce4 MX but If I had my druthers I'd still take a Powermac with Apple's own touches.

This should be a pretty cool month. We have the AIT 9700(R300) coming out mid July. Tradeshows are coming NAMM is coming Digiworld is coming and last but not least Macworld NY! I'm going to be in gear HEAVEN by August 1st.

Maybe 'coz it's got Hypertransport, 4x as much memory bandwidth as a Powermac and it's low-cost.

With its integrated graphics it would be perfect in a future iMac and with a more customized chip set (that would accomodate a video card on its own) it could go in the Powermacs as well. This could also bring down Apples hardware prices somewhat while bringing Macs up to par with the PC's. But I guess there'd be some compatibility issues to solve?
