Many people, both on the Left and the Right, would argue that the 'wrong' way to proceed is precisely what made Obama so ineffectual (although, I'll admit, he was a consequential President), and led to the decimation of the Democrats by the Republicans in this election season.
I think any mention of Obama's failures also must mention the meeting of Republican leaders at the DC Caucus Room restaurant on inauguration day 2008 to plan their strategy to make Obama a one-term president and to oppose and block him and all Democrats at every turn.  You just can't ignore that.  They didn't prevent his second term  but they undeniably blocked everything they possibly could in a mindless, puerile and wholly un-american way.  Much of what they did over the last 8 years has directly led to the rise of someone like Trump.

We can only hope the Dems do the exact same thing to the GOP, every single step of the way for the next 4 years.

Tim Cook should not attend. It's really as simple as that. Let's stop legitimizing Donald Trump.

I find it very encouraging to find out that the reactions on this board, which usually tends to be packed with very vocal conservatives, are overwhelmingly anti Trump. There's hope yet. I find it appalling that most of us have resigned ourselves that the next leader of the free world is going to be a bumbling fat tyrant with a ridiculous pompadour and a 200 word vocabulary. Our very own Kim Jong Un.

Do to Trump what the Obstructionists did to Obama for 8 years? I consider such acts treasonous as it dissolves the foundation of this nation and hinders its growth. You may not have voted for Trump, but if you're a US citizen then Trump is your president elect. Treat people as good as you are, not as bad as they are.

Check out Gremlins 2 if you want to see how New Yorker's see Trump. It's about an egomaniac developer screwing people left and right and demolishing neighborhoods to build ugly towers with his name on it.

It's been a while since I've seen the film, but wasn't Clamp ultimately a decent guy though who helps save the day?

Not sure the analogy applies, Trump would shit himself at the sight of a Gremlin, then probably offer it use of his exclusive pool.

This is true. I wish people would stop using the word "gridlock" when referring to what paralyzed Congress during the Obama years. Gridlock is a structural failure caused by glut in cross directions.

What happened in Congress was pure obstruction from one side only, and it was treasonous, as you say.

Tim Cook could hardly pass up a chance of trying to educate this naïf.

"Mr. Trump, America literally gave up on electronics manufacturing 40 years ago. It wasn't the unions, it wasn't low wages in Asia, it was America's lack of respect for good, efficient design. We lost solid-state radio, television, VCR, camcorder, digital camera and computer manufacturing to Japan, Taiwan, Korea and China. That's where the center of gravity has been for two generations. That's the structure in the galaxy of our technology. You can't import a galaxy to our shores. About the only thing we can make here are the cardboard boxes.

"But we can do the design, the manufacturing and marketing logistics, and the software. Apple has shown that no one else in the world can do that better than we can. That's why we are the most valuable company, yet we have no manufacturing to speak of, only partners. And if we get a cold, you will see the rest of the economy get pneumonia.

"Don't mess with our system. It's the best in the world, the most valuable. And we're just getting started."
Right. You know that Donald Trump is very intelligent. He understands what makes business happen better than any other president in our history. I know some of you soft skins can't handle his candid comments but the fact is we stand to gain a lot from having him at the helm. If there is some way to improve the US position in getting some of the manufacturing back here (yes we need it) then maybe the tech companies are willing to try harder to make this happen if they can get some things to benefit their businesses. At the end of the day if it is good for business it is good for jobs and the people. Yes CEO's are going to make more money but so will the average American.
I'll take your word on that, but my lord....he sure disguises the fact. Jobs...no chance. The Western worlds' best chance is IP and know-how. Unfortunately the USPTO and court system is hell bent on removing any such protection.

You really think that Obama's unwavering desire and attempt to work with others in a democratic republic is really the "wrong way to proceed? That the US is better off when we let fake news, unfounded accusations, FUD, and demagoguery control the nation? That may have won EC votes this time around but long-term that has repeatedly shown not to work.
Obama never worked with others.  He pretended to. He proclaimed he was.  But in the end, like Obamacare, "you have to pass it so you can read it" -- he forced the platform down our throats.

He was the extremist that you guys pretend Trump is.

Let's stop legitimizing Tim Cook. What has he done for Apple lately other than make a few people rich? Airport routers? Gone. MacPros? Gone. MacMinis? Gone. iMacs? Near extinction. MacBooks? I see more articles about where to buy the 2015 model. iPads? Microsoft makes a huge deal with the NFL to have a Surface in the hands of every team on and off the field and every sports commentator on TV. You can't miss them. Not to mention the TV ad that ends with "can't do that with a Mac", when every iPad Pro user knows that's not true. What is Apple doing to combat this? Trying to negotiate something with the NHL. Really? The NHL? That's embarrassing.

So where is Job's four boxes, plus iPhone and iPad now? Well, they still sell iPhones.

Is the plant that assembles MacPros and MacMinis in Texas still making anything? Or has it closed down? Now we know why MacPro and MacMinis were the ones to be made in the U.S. Because they weren't actually planning to make very many!

I've been buying Apple computers since the '80s and what's happening now is WORSE than what was coming out of Apple in the mid-90s when I worked there. The only silver lining is the amount of cash they have stock piled away.

Maybe Trump can educate Tim Cook on how to keep a company from losing it's traditional core base, (the one that kept them afloat for so many years) - the pro user. Because we're almost gone folks. And when the iPhone gets boring, what is Apple going to fall back on? The Apple Watch? The Apple TV? The Apple Car?

How long was Tim Cook planning on hanging around anyway?

You’re right; it’s great to see Obama leaving.

In no way, shape, or form, so try again with something that makes you look less utterly ridiculous.

Fuck off to Europe, then, because your mental illness isn’t reality because you want it to be.

Seems you need to learn what the word means. And what actually happened over the last 8 years, particularly the period of time when he had a majority of both houses and the SCOTUS (unconstitutionally) on his side.
    I consider such acts treasonous
Read the Constitution, then, because what you want is the actual treason.
as it dissolves the foundation of this nation
    Irony.
    and hinders its growth.
    Tumors should be hindered.

It’s cute that liberals tell each other that what Trump does is extreme and tell his supporters that he’s selling out. There’s a phrase for that; wonder what it could be…
