I heard there were suggestions that they should all boycott the meeting. Better to be present to try to persuade, or at least have your voice heard minus the filter of the media and the background noise. Trump may be polar opposites to Cook on many issues, but I'd hope he'd at least listen and possibly move closer to his points of view on issues like security vs privacy.

    Ha!

Reminds me of the old Soviet Union -- where observers would judge the status of Communist rulers by their position related to the Soviet leader on the reviewing stand, during the annual display of military power at the May Day Parade.
    Thus the term, "Kremlinology". LOL!

I can handle photos of Kanye West with Donald (peas in a pod)... but seeing Tim Cook so near to Poison and Threat is unnerving. I hope Tim is OK.

I am interested in a scenario when everyone would be asked to take out their phones on table.

Cook with his shiny black jet 7 plus. Larry and Eric with new Pixel. The rest of the room eyeing suspiciously of the lone Note 7 that belongs to...

Why does Tim Cook always make such a "grumpy grandma" face?
Tim was looking at Larry Page and Eric Schmidt when that photo was taken.
No, that is the face any sane person would make in the presence of Donald.

These grandstand plays where the coiffuhrer tries to promote the perception he is open-minded will probably cease after he is inaugurated.  It is sickening that many people seem to believe that he is actually listening and learning from tech CEOs or environmental activists or other reality-based visitors.  The long con continues and I wish Tim had not let himself be a part of it.

I would like to see the actual seating chart.  Trump almost certainly controlled it, and seating positions do count in His world.

Multiple considerations come into play, but it seems likely that Trump would assign the closest seats to those he deems the most successful, and most widely respected executives.  Having respected people in close proximity for photos and conversations raises the stature of The Donald.  The after-party party with Cook and Musk has a similar flavor.

Can you give me one example of an issue where Cook and Trump are polar opposites?

Tim Cook doesn't believe in anti-minority, bigoted propaganda.
He does when Apple currently operates in 17 countries where homosexuality is illegal, and four where it is punishable by death.

Considering you think of them as nothing more than fluff, why would they need to stop? You call it a long con while also claiming a short term action. Wouldn't a long con go on for a long time?

Let me ask this instead. This man who has had every possible hateful claim alleged against him has met with and talked to just about anyone and everyone before even becoming president. Staff from President Obama have said he has called him several times. He has spoken to and listened to everyone from Kanye, to Obama to Tim Cook. If this is all an elaborate con, then he has quite the pool of co-conspirators.

Trump has a habit of meeting with people for show (he IS a reality TV personality), but in the end he'll do whatever he wants. Silicon Valley has no interest in a president being involved in their business, such as telling them who they can hire, where they can manufacture, product features (i.e. security), etc. I suspect this meeting was strictly for show.

    Privacy.

What rock were you under when Trump was grandstanding & stating that he'd "force" Apple to write the backdoor & urging his devotees to boycott them as a company??
