Some Series 1 and Series 2 Apple Watches are now availble through Apple's online refurbished store, marking the first time any Watch models have been sold there.

Prices at the store range from $229 for a 38-millimeter aluminum Series 1 to $509 for a 42-millimeter stainless steel Series 2. Only a relatively handful of configurations are available, and indeed all of them come with Sport Bands, mostly either black or white.

Each refurb model is tested and certified, and comes with a fresh one-year warranty. Unlike some other Apple refurbs, the company isn't promising new shells or batteries.

Also, while refurb costs are between $40 and $90 lower than usual, still better prices can potentially be found at third-party retailers. Target, for instance, is offering the Series 1 for as little as $199.

Apple has been heavily marketing the Watch as a Christmas gift, which may help to explain the timing of refurbs. Like other Apple products, resold Watches are available with free next-day delivery in the U.S. during the remaining holiday season.
