Without feeling smug, I'll certainly feel a slight sense of pride in having helped Apple to a record earnings quarter... because although it's taken me a long time - and I mean a long time, being an old-age pensioner (apparently) - a month ago I finally bought an iPhone for my pocket, instead of relying on that old-fashioned 'thing in a cradle with alpha-numerical push buttons' on my desktop, which always had so many missed calls in it's limited memory.

So yeh... although I started with a Mac IIVX back in the early '90s and only upgraded every half-decade or so, I suppose every bit helps... and, the iPhone is now giving me itchy feelings to go for an Apple Watch sooner rather than later! Like millions of others I feel, and benefit from, Apple's 'halo' effect... so fuck the anal-ists manipulative predictions!
Okay, you jumped on Apple before me but I got in at Centris 610 and didn't look back. I just purchase Apple Watch 2 about 2 months ago so I could play basketball with wireless headset but a bad heart valve stopped me from ever trying. Open heart surgery fixed my Mitral valve but following surgery my heart went into Aphib(racing heart beat) from 140-180bpm. I went to ER and found that the Apple Watch was within 1bpm of Hospital's device. The Aphib condition is quite normal for open heart surgeries but the Apple Watch became an awesome tool for checking to see if my heart was racing or not, just by asking SIRI to check my heart rate and it showing previous and real time rates.
My main reason for purchasing an Apple Watch would also be because of a past heart problem... I had a major attack three years ago from stress after my wife and love for 35 years passed away. Although I have a defibrilator fitted I've never had any recurring problem with the ticker... but a Watch with clever software would sure be interesting to browse during my various exercises as I walk and ride a fixie bike every day... not having been a car owner for six years!
Well, I can't say enough on the accuracy of the heart rate monitor. I could actually see when my heart was in the process of going out of sync just monitoring the change in heart rate. I was given a couple of exercises to stop the rapid heart rate by coughing or blowing through a straw and they did work somewhat if the Aphib condition was minimal. I could check my heart rate after the exercise and verify that my heart was back on track. I haven't explored all the functionality of the watch but I will respond to some texts using voice, which works quite well. Answering a call thru the watch is what you would think, small microphone and speaker. I get almost 2 days on a single charge even checking my heart rate 3 times an hour. I think it would be a great tool to track your heart rate during various activities and if your heart is improving over time. You might also look at the Withings blood pressure device. It works quite well for getting blood pressure and heart rate and storing it on your iPhone/ipad. You can easily look at your history in a graphical chart and easy to read color indications for pre hypertension/ hypertension/ etc.

Where to start. You are a creative writer and thinker at least. Is there a time when Microsoft wasn't ahead in the 'high end' or 'any end' of the PC market? Did I miss the Macs becoming number one in PC sales? VR? Yeah. That's a big market all right. I know all the...wait. I don't know anyone who cares unless they are raising funding for their VR company. But yeah, they are in trouble. No doubt.... ?

    Record profits - whatever...

Behind in voice assistants, Microsoft eating their lunch in the high end PC market, Mac line is a disaster, nothing on the market for VR, Apple Watch is a failure or at best a "meh", and, lest we forget, "no innovation for years".

I know it's been three years, and I know it's going off-topic, but hey, my heart goes out to you. I'm coming up on 25 years, and while I have no idea what you went through in particular, I can't imagine such a loss. I can only hope I go first (probably will)! It sounds like you're taking good care of yourself now, which is great, and hopefully you can treasure how lucky you were to have had those 35 years with someone you cared about so deeply. I know I do, but many people never experience that at all. If this was weird, sorry, not sure why I felt compelled to comment on this, just did.

You missed the most important one: "This would never have happened if Steve were alive!"

Hopefully now we can take it all as read, and get on with our lives.
