Subaru will showcase another addition to its Apple CarPlay roster, the 2018 Crosstrek, later in April at the New York International Auto Show, according to an announcement.

The crossover SUV will feature a new multimedia system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, supporting both CarPlay and Google's Android Auto even on the 2.0i base trim, Subaru said on Monday. The Premium and Limited trims will mainly add luxury and driver-assist features, though Limited models will include an 8-inch display.

Subaru didn't say whether iPhone owners will be able connect wirelessly or have to rely on Lightning/USB, as with most CarPlay vehicles. Android users, however, will get quick Bluetooth pairing by way of NFC.

The new Crosstrek will arrive at dealerships this summer. Pricing details have yet to be released.

Subaru is a relatively recent backer of CarPlay, its other compatible models being the 2017 Impreza and the 2018 Legacy. Most major automakers are well ahead in quantity, including fellow Japanese companies Honda, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki.

Another Japanese firm -- Toyota -- has actively refused to support CarPlay, choosing to go with its own infotainment platform instead.

Great news! Subaru's all-wheel drive system is outstanding--virtually as good as Audi's Quattro system--so pairing it with CarPlay is icing on the cake.

6.5" says it all about that car. Forester or Impreza are the Real Ones.

Hey! Toyota, every car manufacturers are supporting carplay except you. You can keep improving pathetic Entune infotainment system in your cars but they can't get constant improvements, dynamic updates over the air like Carplay.

Audi cars are FWB and even in Quattro set up, they still suck.
