Massive power outage closes busy Union Square Apple Store in San Francisco

The year-old flagship Apple Store at Union Square in San Francisco was closed down today due to a massive power outage that affected around 90,000 other customers, shut down some subway stations and turned off traffic lights that snarled many busy intersections.

A report by SF Gate stated that the massive power outage was "probably caused by a fire at a PG&E substation."

Apple's Union Square retail store features massive sliding glass panels that would normally be opened up during beautiful weather like today's, but were closed the entire day along with the rest of the building. Despite being closed itself, the usually crowded retail location's rear courtyard had a few visitors.

Apple began construction work on the location in the summer of 2015 and opened the store last May, after moving out of the original downtown Apple Store originally located two blocks away on Market Street.

Something similar (but on a lesser scale) happened in NYC and a couple of other cities too.

Something's a bit fishy. Hope it serves as a wake-up call to our bozos in Washington, DC.

Huh? Does Apple not have solar panels for this store? I thought that one of their biggest initiatives was to get all their stores and plants on solar power and only use the grid as a backup.

US was super innovative with the 110 all over the country, the reality is today everything is completely outdated..

Not to worry, Apple iPower, Apple's future initiative to create its own grid, will alleviate their dependency on utility companies!

How about the California bozos spending money on defending illegal aliens instead of infrastructure? How's that working out, fellas?

Looks like the liberal snowflakes in SF and NYC forgot to pay their electric bill again. Don't try blaming that on D.C.

Without these "California Bozos" you wouldn't have the tech available to spread your FUD.

Learn what words mean before you use them. The easiest way to spot a liberal is their use of ‘bigot’ as though they know what it actually means. Any word, really.

As for the power outage, it looks like it was due to a solar event. Which is also the fault of the government, because they refuse to bury our power lines to protect them from this. We’ll have another Carrington Event and half the country will FUCKING DIE because they’re too lazy to spend the extra money to protect our infrastructure.

People like you are the reason Liberals exist. And the grid IS NOT owned by the government.

Who would have thought that a power outage would turn political so quickly.

Your election truly has divided your nation.

Oh, it had been divided decades ago. We’ve finally just hit the breaking point where we don’t give a shit about appeasement or happiness instead of fact.

I think Apple's strategy with respect to solar is to feed it back to the grid. If the grid goes down so does the solar power. That said, even I have backup generators at home and the office.
