Maybe now they can finally stop running absurdly anti-Apple pieces by Rebecca Greenfield ("The Post-Steve Jobs Decline of Apple’s Genius Design Theory"; "Suddenly Microsoft is the Hippest Tech Company Around"), Adam Clarke Estes ("[O]ne things [sic] is brutally clear: Samsung is making more money than Apple, now."; "iPhone Fever Is Fading"), and Ian Bogost ("The Myth of Apple’s Great Design").
I wish there was a way for conservatives to be more progressive.
I wish people actually knew what the word ‘progressive’ means.
We all know what it means:
favoring or advocating progress, change, improvement, or reform, as opposed to wishing to maintain things as they are, especially in political matters
It therefore may sound like an oxymoron for a conservative to embrace progressive ideals, but the fact is that human beings cannot be exclusively placed into one category of thought alone. Consider well that so-called "conservatives" who oppose the tax and spend ways of liberal progressives do the same silly thing when it comes to military and defense spending. So it's not about strict dictionary definitions as much as it is about "political leanings."
And so, as I said in my previous post, I would prefer a situation where the human heart can be changed such that people are willing to contribute of their own accord rather than being forced to do so by government. Better for me to have a heart change and contribute to charity or a good cause on my own, rather than than have Big Brother grab my wallet and steal my income in order to contribute to those causes on my behalf. Whether it be giving to the poor, sustaining a health care system, or flying to Mars, we should do it without being forced. And doing those things shouldn't require us to dispense with all the traditions we hold dear. That's my own personal definition of what I myself think "true conservatism" really is. We ought to do the right thing to push humanity forward, but not by force or threat of government or by torching the past.
Is it just me or is "The Emerson Collective" an unbearably pretentious and disingenuous attempt to put a fig leaf over corporate wealth afforded to her by Steve and other shareholders/buyers like me?
Why is it wrong to say "we are a corporate funded elite group who revels in capitalist success, and promotes globalism at any cost to our American working class adversaries?" Just my 2 cents after examining their website, staff rolls and literature.
