so, without a bridge, how do routines or schedules work? Primarily my Hue setup is based on timers, motion/light sensors, IFTTT rules, and a few hue dimmer switches. It's only when I diverge from the routines that I use my phone to control (if my kid wants a different colour in his bedroom at night for example).

If it's connected directly to an iPhone and that iPhone is out of battery or not in range, the bulbs are essentially dumb bulbs again?
Routines and schedules will likely be handled by a Sylvania and HomeKit apps on the iPhone, iPad, and ATV, just as in most other systems. The Hue's hub isn't responsible for setting schedule or routines.

And yes, without an iDevice, they're dumb bulbs, although if you have routines in place, they should carry on. This assumes Sylvania's implementation is similar to our Hue and other systems.

With our Hues, the remote dimmer will cycle some colors, but that's pretty limited. I would think while not mentioned, Syl will have a dimmer soon.
