Apple will never have, know or store your personal ID. Like your card details, it'll be converted into a token that'll make no sense to anyone except the Apple server.

Uhh... dude you missed the whole FACE ID part of the equation. This is to connect the scan it makes OF YOUR ACTUAL FACE with some official ID that has the same face.

First, even if I had a penis I'm not your Dude.
Second, you assume there is any face scanning in iOS and that its going to be connected to ID tracking rather than simply part of the whole photo taking software.

I hope that there is some way to tell Apple to NOT let any person-to-person transfers happen with my device. It is not a feature that I want on a phone ever. I know that some people do want it. Fine, but as long as I can totally disable it at the Apple end for my device then I'll be happy. It will be interesting to know if there are more ID thefts from using this than without.
Breaking into your mailbox is easier for ID thefts.

But online Hacker are far smart than your averages mailbox thief, But unclear why photo id would be required. Not sure how that would prevent any sort of scam.

Maybe there's a sale on tinfoil hats?

If this replaces Venmo for me, I'm game.  I'll trust Apple to handle security any day compared to what the competitors have.  While no one knows, I don't see any reason that Apple would essentially force you to use it.  Chill.
What if others don’t switch from Venmo?
I'm thinking people that already use Venmo & Apple Pay will for sure just P2P Apple Pay.

Getting my friends to get on Venmo bandwagon has been tough. The ones that use Apple Pay though I don't see why they wouldn't be on board with Apple P2P.

I have a couple of app-based accounts (to try them out) and they've each required verification with an ID card (drivers license for example) coupled with a short video recording of me saying a set phrase. I assume as noted above it's to meet some set industry requirements rather than a specific need for anything related to the payment service or software itself.
