Now if Google and/or TV manufacturers would get the Youtube app working again on a lot of smart TVs I'd be a bit happier. I'm not at all pleased on it being killed off on my two year old Vizio.
- Does it support Picture in Picture? - Can I listen to YouTube while I put my device to sleep? - Can I block ads? - Can I turn off autoplay on playlists?
Seriously, some of these features are so behind schedule they're almost ½ decade old. At least Google finally got around to updating Google Earth after about, what, 10 years?
Bonus: those that repeatedly proclaim ads to be the bane of society have a way of avoiding them in Youtube: Pay for it with actual cash rather than demanding it be free with all the additional features. That is what you wanted, right?
Ads are the bane of society.
But YouTube ads are not that bad. The longest ones run 15 seconds, most run only 4 seconds before you can skip. Which is fair and decent.
Ads don't have to be the bane of society if they are fair and not obnoxious.
15 seconds max? I don't think so. I just paused one that is 1:49:

Oh, porn! Okay. Knowing that, it does seem strange they’d even remotely associate themselves with it.
