Apple Events app for Apple TV updated ahead of Sept. 12 keynote

in General Discussion edited September 2017
Apple on Tuesday issued an update to its Apple Events tvOS app with assets teasing the upcoming Sept. 12 media event, at which the company is expected to unveil a trio of new iPhones, an LTE Apple Watch and next-generation Apple TV with 4K capabilities.

Apple Events version 2.20 slaps a fresh coat of paint on the streaming app, including a stylized Apple logo borrowed from email invitations sent out to press last week.

Set to take place at 10 a.m. Pacific in the new Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, the Sept. 12 event is widely expected to bring news of Apple's next-generation iPhone lineup. The company is rumored to unveil a new flagship in the "iPhone 8," or "iPhone Edition," with full-face OLED display, facial recognition features, wireless charging and more. Revamped iterations of the iPhone 7 series are also presumed to launch.

In addition, rumors have pointed to an LTE-capable Apple Watch and fifth-generation Apple TV with support for 4K HDR content.

As usual, Apple will be hosting a livestream of the keynote through its website and the Apple Events app.

AppleInsider will be on the scene with live coverage of the event.

Apple launched its dedicated streaming app in early 2016 ahead of its "Let us loop you in" event, which saw the introduction of iPhone SE and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

The latest version of Apple Events is a free download from the tvOS App Store.

    1) I've been blasted for saying this, but the venue plus all the rumours may make this the most memorable event since the original iPhone announcement in 2007.

Personally, I'm likely down for a new Apple TV and Apple Watch without much consideration of improved features past the status quo, but I may actually wait an extra year on the iPhone as I have no complaints or real desires as of right now with my iPhone 7 series model… but I'll pleased if that changes next week.

    2) For those of you that haven't been using iOS 11 yet, I think you're in for a real treat. My favorite new feature/update is Control Center finally done in the way I've always wanted it. Last year was a step back for me with the double-step to get to the Music player and headphones, but even before that it was never excellent. With iOS 11 I have no complaints and want for nothing.

Crossing my fingers that it is.
